We will NOT be testing sirens today. Lafayette County will, however, continue implementing the new activation system. We do not anticipate any more accidental activations but the possibility is still there.
“As crews conduct system upgrades on emergency outdoor warning sirens throughout the county, test sirens may occur through the afternoon on the Oxford campus. In the event of a true emergency, the campus will notify you through other communications including RebAlert.
⚠️Today (5/7/24) around 1:35pm while a contractor is upgrading our outdoor warning system the system was unintentionally activated. There is no threat currently in our area and we apologize for any confusion.
