To everyone that has reached out to me in my DMs, the support is overwhelming. Please know that to every survivor messaging me I am reading everything and know that I believe your stories too. Thank you for making me feel less alone and I’m glad I can do the same for you.
To have my truth finally acknowledged by so many of you means the world to me.
Thank you all for listening to my family’s story over the past month.
Never stop believing survivors.

It’s
#GoldenGlobes
Sunday. Four years ago, at the Globes in 2014, Woody Allen was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement. Four years ago I decided enough was enough and wrote an open letter detailing the abuse I sustained at the hands of Woody Allen. /1
@jtimberlake
The saying means, for example, you can’t support
#TIMESUP
and praise sexual predators at the same time. You can’t retain your credibility as an activist (i.e. - retain the cake) and, at the same time, praise a sexual predator (i.e. - eating the cake).
I'm grateful to my siblings for standing by me and my mother. Statement from Matthew Previn, Sascha Previn, Fletcher Previn, Daisy Previn, Ronan Farrow, Isaiah Farrow, and Quincy Farrow:
Thank you to everyone for their kind words, the outpouring of support means more to me than I can say ♥️ Speaking the truth is so difficult, but I hope any fellow survivors who watched last night know they are not alone. The truth is something that cannot be changed.
If
@BretStephensNYT
is interested, there is much more information he can find on my case than what he cites in his piece, some of which I have posted here. /1
@BretStephensNYT
To presume I invented this story & convinced myself of it is no less insulting than calling me a liar. I’ve consistently stated the truth for 25 years, I won’t stop now. It’s Stephens’ right to doubt me if he so chooses but his incredulity doesn’t change what happened that day./2
No predator should be spared by virtue of their “talent” or “creativity” or “genius.” No rock should be left unturned. The principles of the movement need to be applied consistently and without exemption. /5
I will be watching tonight with a very different feeling than I had at this time four years ago. I will watch with optimism, with hope, and with the firm belief that there is a brighter future ahead. And I will watch to see if now, finally, time is up for my predator too. /6 end.
I know that standing with me against Woody Allen is not easy in this industry. I know that I am asking for courage and even sacrifice. But if
#TIMESUP
truly stands with all victims, as it says it does, then that sacrifice is necessary to help convert this moment to a movement. /1
At 7, I told my mom what happened. My mom then responsibly followed through. The result? A narrative was spun to dismiss me as "brainwashed" and my mother as a master manipulator. For Greer to act like standing against powerful abusers is easy is both wrong and profoundly naive.
This is disgraceful from Germaine Greer. The tired line about we should just give men a slap, when it is never that easy. And how we should react immediately, including 7-year-old Dylan Farrow? How can a 7-year-old hit back?
One of the things that I have found most disturbing about sharing my story is how many strangers feel compelled to tell me what I “really” experienced and what my family is “really” like.
Today, four years later, it is Globes Sunday again and many, if not most, will be wearing black on the red carpet in solidarity with the
#TIMESUP
movement. They will stand against sexual harassment and abuse in their industry and all others. Good. I stand with them.

But I have to wonder - is time really up now? Is this really the turning point? I have no doubt it can be. I have no doubt the time is right. But in order for things to meaningfully change, they need to change unequivocally. /4
Tomorrow morning my first TV interview airs on
@CBSThisMorning
. Coming forward on television was not an easy decision or one I made lightly. I knew full well I would be put under a microscope; my words analyzed, my appearance critiqued. /1
I thought it would make a difference. I thought things would change. I learned quickly (and painfully) that my optimism was misplaced. His time wasn’t up. /2
There have been some brave and bold women who have taken a stand with and for me in the past few days. I want to acknowledge their integrity, their courage, and their exemplification of a new way forward. Thank you, it means the world.
#TIMESUP
@MiraSorvino
, I am overwhelmed and my gratitude to you cannot be expressed sufficiently in words. This letter is beautiful and I will carry your words with me. Your courage has been boundless and your activism an example for us all. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Perhaps Ms. Blanchett is unaware of the statute of limitations that prevents my case (and so many others) from being reopened, but if she is looking for a legal perspective, there is plenty of that publicly available in both Justice Wilk's and the NY Appellate Court's judgments.
Unbelievably overwhelmed and so incredibly grateful for the solidarity demonstrated by
@HachetteUS
and
@littlebrown
employees today. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Advocating for “every victim” in the abstract is great for illustration. In practice, each victim is a real person with a story that may be inconvenient and require sacrifice to stand with them. If Hollywood isn’t prepared to do that, they shouldn’t try to lead this movement.
Because if we’ve learned anything from the past two years it’s that you definitely should believe male predators who “maintain their innocence” without question. Scarlett has a long way to go in understanding the issue she claims to champion.
To those who have already taken a stand and amplified my voice with theirs, there is a 7 year old girl inside of me who thanks you from the bottom of her heart. /2
Tomorrow you will see the me my family and friends know. The raw and honest reality. No airs, just the truth. I wanted to face you, I wanted you to see me; not as a Farrow, not as a figure, but as a woman telling the truth to honor the little girl that got left behind. /3 end.
I’m thrilled there are films like this being made that I can show my own daughter. However, I hope Scarlett as a person can carry the same convictions as her character in being a true ally to ALL survivors & not shield real life villains Black Widow would beat up 💥
"No number of moving speeches or cool pins will make any lasting difference at all if we continue to pick and choose the women we’re willing to listen to and ignore the rest out [of] a lack of convenience or a love of prestige."
@TheMarySue
@CBSThisMorning
We as a society expect survivors to fit a very narrow mold - sincere but not too frank, eloquent but not too put together, composed but not too rigid. We start by judging not by listening. We begin with skepticism not with belief. That must change. /2

Tonight, on the eve of the
#SAGAwards
, I am so heartened by the incredible support I have received since the Golden Globes. So much has changed and so many have broken the wall of silence that had enabled the dismissal of my story, allegations, and humanity through the years. /1
There shouldn't need to be more victims for my story of abuse to begin to matter. One victim should be enough. However, Woody Allen's pattern of grooming young girls is well-established and has been enabled for decades.
#TIMESUP
It’s extraordinary how easily people can be duped into believing that they truly know those in the public eye deeply and intimately. And it’s an illusion that is successfully exploited by PR experts, like Leslee Dart, looking to spin a narrative.
Thank you
@Oprah
for your willingness to ask the hard questions and for being one of the first to move the needle on the issue of sexual abuse. Thank you
@shondarhimes
for your vocal support.
#TIMESUP
“If Allen and his surrogates’ response to this is that I’m capitalizing on a moment in which it is in vogue to carefully look at the facts, rather than rely on thin defenses from powerful men without question — a moment in which the truth is in fashion — I’d say they’re right.”
@TheView
surprising that in discussing my case this morning no one mentioned that the prosecutor in my case, after evaluating ALL the evidence, found probable cause to press criminal charges against Woody. He chose not to only in order to spare me further trauma.
Cate Blanchett, a vocal campaigner against sexual harassment, will lead this year's Cannes jury. It's seen as an about-face for a festival with a poor record on gender equality.
“He’s dressing up crime as art.”
Woody Allen’s work is not empowering to women. His art does not elevate women. His art diminishes all of us and molds the culture that many women in Hollywood say they are standing united against. If
#TIMESUP
, it should be up for Allen too.
@JoyVBehar
saying that the experts have exonerated Woody Allen is utterly false and a truly abhorrent mischaracterization. Thank you to
@sunny
for pushing back on the false narrative Woody Allen has tried so hard to perpetuate.
Women should not be held accountable for men’s actions, but part of changing the culture is changing our response to victims and acknowledging complicity. The
#TIMESUP
mission addresses this head on, its members said they would as well. /1
"It’s of course particularly hard for me as a survivor of sexual abuse to know that for these particular individuals I am not part of the 'every woman' they stand for."
This means so much. Of the MANY people who have worked with and enabled Woody Allen over the years, only 3, (to my knowledge) have had the integrity and courage to speak out. I desperately hope that the winds are changing and others will take a stand. Thank you
@mrDaveKrumholtz
.
Despite my credible allegations, Woody Allen has been enabled, praised, and supported while I’ve been ignored, disbelieved, and criticized by many in Hollywood.
#TIMESUP
has defined new promises and principles, I only ask that its supporters uphold them. /2
.
@realdylanfarrow
that must have been extremely difficult on
@CBSThisMorning
Your bravery, honesty and vulnerability shine through and no doubt will help many survivors out there still suffering in silence or struggling to be believed. Sending you a big hug!
Men absolutely should be joining this conversation, particularly those who count themselves as members of
#TIMESUP
. It is telling that, in recent days, women in Hollywood have been leading this charge.
I see a man who wanted what he wanted and didn’t care that he was having an affair with a 19 year old when he was 54 who was also his daughter’s sister.He also took nude photos of this child who he had known since she was nine and left them out for his family to see. Narcissism.
It is my wish to break the stigma associated with child sexual abuse for ALL survivors including those who’ve been neglected and ignored. This issue remains a third rail in the broader conversation on sexual abuse and is too often shrouded in silence, shame, and secrecy. /4
After the Globes,
@RWitherspoon
shared an Elie Wiesel quote that deeply resonated with me: “Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” So many of us have been profoundly hurt and dismissed by the action of silence. /3
“We are learning that the more we open our mouths, the more we become a choir. And the more we are a choir, the more the tune is forced to change.”

I believe we are truly on the brink of a new day and I am so grateful for that. For those who remain suspiciously silent on this issue, I ask for them to consider that silence is an action, not the absence of action. Silence does not politely recuse you from the conversation. /2
In her NYT piece,
@amandahess
refers to the “systemic rot” in Hollywood. During this reckoning, we’d do well to remember that part of what keeps powerful predators emboldened & enabled are the very effective & well-oiled machines designed to protect them.
When we enable powerful predators, in every walk of life, we are willing accomplices in the continued harm inflicted on their victims. We are complicit. /4
I am so appreciative of
@realcrimeprofil
for watching
#AllenVFarrow
and continuing the conversation by talking about cases like mine from a legal and criminal perspective. An important listen for advice for other families and survivors of abuse.
Here’s the thing that
@BretStephensNYT
is genuinely obtuse to: his words do damage to all victims. Full stop. I know this because my mother was a victim who endured suspicion, doubt, and disbelief by people of authority when she was raped. /1
Whether heeded or ignored, my voice will not be silenced. And to my fellow survivors out there who are disbelieved and unsupported - I stand with you too. Now and always.
#TIMESUP
#goldenglobes
#WhyWeWearBlack
There are many others like me who are continually revictimized when they are disbelieved, or just outright ignored, because the truth is too inconvenient to accept, too difficult to deal with. /3
