If I remember correctly, instances of cardiac arrest in athletes was one of the factors that finally pushed schools across the country to purchase AEDs to have in gyms + around campus. Not sure of every school but I began to see them more and more as I played sports in the 2000s.

Love this. I briefly worked at a kabob place in Baltimore that also served traditional Afghan food. Because almsgiving is a pillar of Islam, we always made extra naan to give to people who were hungry, and our Muslim customers kept an eye out to remind us of that duty to give.

It's just different. Most Black folks in England are from Africa and the Caribbean, and many came during Windrush - a mass migration of immigrants to help in the post-WW2 rebuilding efforts. So a lot of prejudices are connected to their specific experiences. Also, TONS of elitism
