This is Ian Russell - father of 14 yr old Molly Russell who took her own life. Worked with him for years. He asked me to run
@LondonMarathon
for
@mollyroseorg
in her name. I said he should run it himself. And so he is. 1st marathon at 56. Not run for 36 yrs! Pls cheer him on 💪
3:41 Went off way too fast given I haven’t been able to run properly for 5 weeks 😂 I never learn. Great race
@LondonMarathon
and fantastic crowds as ever
@AdeleRoberts
wins my prize for most impressive 3:30 world record with a stoma. Brilliant.
In the middle…my friend Alice Riddell-Webster. She’ll kill me for saying this but 57 years old and she ran
@LondonMarathon
in 2:58:15
I think she is sensational 👏
Meanwhile…. I had a great 20 mile race. Missed the last 6.2 miles 🤦♀️ First DNF. Or DMB (Did My Best) when my ankle
blew up. 🤷♀️ See you London Marathon 2025 …
The incredible
@JacquieMillett
- 68 years young. Only started running at the age of 57.
@LondonMarathon
time - 3:58 That’s a whopping 87.9% age grading.
22:01 - fastest
@parkrunuk
for a year thanks to my pacers! Mission to get faster again continues. 7th woman, 1st in age group, 81.15% age grading…..Thank you parkrun for still providing all those stats 😁 🏃♀️
10 years ago today. My 1st
@LondonMarathon
. Collapsed at mile 24 with a temperature of 41C but got back up after 2 hours with
@stjohnambulance
and finished in 6:22:57 ... So glad I kept going. What a decade of wonderful adventures it led to.
#loverunning
Speed training does work! Did my fastest
@parkrunUK
for 2 years today - 80.95% age grading. And I was beaten by a 10 year old. 😂😂😂
I love parkrun so much ❤️
The virtual
@LondonMarathon
with a real race. Undertrained, brutal weather but scraped in under 3.30 at the brilliantly organised covid secure
#dorneylakemarathon
. Paying for it today. Loved racing again.
The in between news bulletins 4 miler from work - just to round up
@Strava
mileage for the year 😂 Totally mad. But had to be done. Make up lady not too impressed… 😬 Happy New Year 🥳
That marathon injury turned out to be a little worse than I thought. Been on crutches and in a boot since start of June! But discovered knee scooters…🤣 Finally on the mend. Rehab starts now…..
🛴 💨
I have been injured for months and months. So boring. An annoying tendon that wouldn’t stop niggling. But now it’s less niggly and fingers crossed it’s on the mend. So good to be back running regularly again ❤️🏃♀️
The upshot of 2020 and the cancellation of almost every marathon....my coach just texted me.... “You are currently ranked 82nd UK marathon woman for 2020 – enjoy it while you can!’ 🤣 🎉
First ever cross country race! A little late in life...but hey I wore spikes, ran hard, got muddy and loved it (once it was over)! And our team was 3rd overall. XC is brutal.
#londonxcchamps
#parliamenthill
Scraped in under 22 mins
@parkrunUK
- 79% age grading. Lockdown, injury, age…thought pace was disappearing. But felt like I was flying today. Running - always surprises me. Love it. Ran with Chelsea flower show designer Tom Hoblyn. Post Chelsea parkrun ✅
My fastest
@parkrunUK
for 2 years. 80% age grading. And STILL….I only came 3rd in the 50-54s. 🙄 There seem to be more and more annoyingly speedy 50 somethings out there 😂 💪 🏃♀️
This is
@MamaMarmalade
(before and after). She started run/walking between lampposts. I dragged her to
@parkrunUK
a few years ago (kicking and screaming). She has just run her FIFTEENTH marathon?!? That’s more than I have done!! 🤷♀️
Not sure I’ve ever been so overtrained yet unprepared for the
@LondonMarathon
! Am nearly a stone lighter than when I left for
@marathonDsables
. No idea how I’ll feel tomorrow but at least it won’t involve a 9kg backpack.. 🐪
Oh well…turns out stopping at 20 miles was the right thing to do in the
@LondonMarathon
! 6 weeks of no running…or cycling or swimming or weights… 🤦♀️ Can I do anything at all? I asked a little horrified. Kayaking?, he said 😂😂🤦♀️🤷♀️🛶
This sensational
@TheSpineRace
by
@JasminKParis
gets a mention on tonight’s
@BBCNews
at 6. I’m saying this now so that my editor now has to run it 😉 Ultrarunning goes mainstream.
Anniversary run! My friend Miranda lost 6 stone. She did her 1st
@parkrunUK
a year ago. 30 parkruns later and I paced her to a PB today. 26 mins - a whole 5 minutes faster than a year ago.
#loveparkrun
Back with La Chan for the first time since December. Hallelujah. Except she has been training hard. And I haven’t. She’s flying. I’m not. 🤣 Just the motivation I needed....back on it (from tomorrow... 😬)
#loverunning
Record numbers turned out
@richmondparkrun
So many people that they’ve had to form a human chain to funnel everyone!! And they’ve run out of tokens....
@parkrunUK
2 days. 66 miles. Tons of mud. Top 10 women’s finish today. Loved it (weirdly). My garmin is deeply unimpressed though. Thanks
@ExtremeEnergyUK
- Pilgrims is a great race.
#northdownsway
#ultrarunning
For reasons I can’t quite explain (I blame
@Susie__Chan
) I signed up to run
@centurionrunner
💯 miles in a week. Managed 55 miles in 3 days so far and currently feel like this stag. Hot, tired, very hungry.
Extraordinary to think the excel centre where we go to pick up
@LondonMarathon
race numbers will open next week as a field hospital for up to 4000 patients.
So much for ❄️ in London! Fell in mud instead 🙄 Back to running. Had a couple of weeks off with minor Achilles problem after foolishly trying to keep up with my 12 yr old who kept goading me. “Come on mum! This is just jogging!” We were running 7:30 min miles 🤷♀️
70 years young and still smashing it out. Sub 4 for the sensational
@JacquieMillett
who only started running at 57. She now has 220+ marathons under her belt. 👏👏👏👏
Any parkrun record holders out there who have just had their records wiped and want to talk about it on the news? Why it matters to you - if it does - that your record is no longer there etc?
Tom Hoblyn is one of the designers doing a show garden
@The_RHS
Chelsea this year. I interviewed him yesterday. He made the mistake of telling me he’s a runner 😂 Dragged him to
@parkrunUK
today and paced him to a PB 💪
She’s 71 and just ran her 8th
@ComradesRace
- 54 miles and more than 6000 ft in under 11 hours.
@JacquieMillett
did her 1st comrades aged 60 as a birthday present to herself. She is sensational ♥️
Today’s cross country lesson - don’t start at the front with the very fast, very young club runners...because you won’t be able to keep up 😂
#surreyleaguexc
#wimbledoncommon
After weeks of limping around with a dodgy calf, I thought I was going to have to pull out of
@Great_Run
GNR this weekend...but 7 totally pain free miles later and I will definitely be there. Oh the relief! 🎉
Two superwomen:
My friend Alice Riddell-Webster who is 56 and ran 2:58
@LondonMarathon
…beaten though by
@jennyhitchings
who is 60 this year and ran 2:45 - a world record I think 😲 👏👏👏
5km - 3mins faster x 4 - 5km
Almost ducked out of this 9 miler today. Walked out the door, went back inside, had a word with myself, went out again 😂 But I did do it! And it was better than expected. You can do so much more than you think… I often forget that 🏃♀️
Fun at Churchfields parkrun today. This is the last 100m... can see why
@runningchannel
@anna_harding
said this was one of the toughest in the country. Took me 27min...felt like sub 2hr 😹
Won my 1st race (20:59 important seconds), got my 1st trophy...had to give it back 🤷♀️😂 Great fun at
#beatbeethoven
@sportrelief
Thanks to everyone who donated
Was injured for first half of this year and had done no speed training. Had no idea what pace I could hold. So I ran the London Marathon to my heart rate - kept it at 140. And the Great North run 3 weeks earlier at 150. And it worked!
Spot of
@parkrunUK
tourism… The most spectacular I have done so far. More than 500ft of climbing up the cliffs by Freshwater Bay.
@medinaparkrun
But the return downhill was good 🏃♀️
