Meek Mill implied that Nicki Minaj was "washed" and that he was commercially in a better place than her. Her throwaway song that had no video, radio support of promotion just outperformed his official single which featured Justin Timberlake. Sometimes, it's okay to be silent.
Her career is such an interesting one. By her rookie year, she had worked with Rap icons & giants like Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Kanye West, etc. But on the other side, she had worked with Mariah Carey, Madonna, Britney Spears, etc.
I wish the narrative was that during a global pandemic, where their album was leaked, they missed a day of sales/tracking and were unable to promote as one of their members was grieving the death of a loved one, the City Girls were still able to sell *19k.
Believing that an artist who turned down working with multi-platinum hit makers such as Lil Nas X, Doja Cat & Gunna is entitled to work with….. Lil Baby Tate…… because she said that she’s a fan? Is… interesting.
It’s funny because this is only done with the women who actually have a black parent. The “Afro-Latina” without a SINGLE parent with African heritage doesn’t get bothered. It’s interesting to see the ways in which anti-blackness works.
I have a lot of love for Cease (and Kim), but the time to pass the baton was in 2008, when it was apparent that Nicki Minaj was on the rise/next up. And if this IS about passing a baton, the battle should be against Cardi B, who Kim publicly said she was passing the baton to.
I remember an artist stating this about 2 years ago and being told that they were a sore loser that needed to shut up. It’s interesting that now it’s worked for them, people are upset. “Interesting”.

I don’t think it’s a rewriting of Wades career but an accurate analysis of the Wade/Bron situation. After 2011, Wade was absolutely

. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Every time the internet has tired to downplay Doja Cat’s love & admiration for Nicki Minaj, she’s come back and doubled down. I’m unsure why people still fight it at this point.
The Avatar is meant to get stronger with each reincarnation. Korra was raised to be militant and is able to metal bend. She’s naturally a water bender so I wouldn’t be surprised if she could blood bend. PLEASE stop playing with her. She’s sending Aang to meet the monks.
Swap Cole out with Kanye (MBDTF, WTT & Yeezus) and add Minaj.
I love Cole but I don’t think that much changes if he doesn’t exist in Hip-Hop. I think this list should be about acts who largely changed the scope of Hip-Hop.
She actually SIGNED a female rapper. I kind of feel like all talk about her support of women in the genre kind of….. doesn’t matter anymore. NO WOMAN in her position has EVER done this.

I think there's a disconnect from people who don't watch basketball often and those who do. It is common to watch a game and reference a player by their number, that's why they have numbers.
It’s funny to see so many Hip Hop acts, personalities, commentators and journalists speak out against Justin Bieber & the actions taken to ensure “Yummy”s success...... but be quiet when it happens in Hip-Hop.
Man Justin Bieber label paid for that f*cking yummy yummy song to b everywhere... that shit in every Youtuber/ Instagram video .... I. the background. Can’t watch a vlog or tutorial without it. Ain’t no way his label ain’t spend a million in the last week promoting it
Let’s step away from the case for a second (Meg was clearly harmed and we know that for a fact). Megan was “cool” with ALL of the people you named, even when *some* of them had been proven to be abusers and not kind. What does that say about her? Genuinely asking.
Tory, 50, Joe Budden, Dababy, Drake, Nicki, Kelsey, Carl Crawford… like, look at the people publicly having an issue with Meg. Consider the kind of people they are.
Nicki Minaj was the last woman in Rap to have a

single topped the charts in 3 countries and went Top 10 in 10. Her compilation album is the ONLY 2022 release by a woman in Rap STILL on the Billboard 200. You people just tweet because you have thumbs.
@XiotheNinja
She did! She didn't realise that she'd be at the receiving end one day 😂😂😂
The real issue for her is that there's no real template of how to navigate the hip-hop space as an aging woman. She's not a performer, she can't do movies, she's not a philanthropist. What can she do?
Internet discourse genuinely makes me laugh. “The most successful woman to ever rap shouldn’t have been invited to the award ceremony honoring Rap.” It’s okay to not say anything if you have nothing positive to say.
Ebro gets on here every day to let us know how “women are running Hip-Hop” but places them on the BOTTOM of Rap Life, despite having YEARS OLD ALBUM CUTS above them. I don’t think I’ve ever seen TEN songs by women, on that playlist of a HUNDRED SONGS.
@NAACPYOUNGBOY
Honestly, this shocked me. I did not expect him to have this take. I’m glad that he did, though. Beautiful to see his growth and it’s beautiful to see him healthy.
It’s weird because I feel like she got this deal and after seeing her success, the industry went into overdrive to make sure that another woman in Rap wouldn’t get something like this. Because since her, I feel like they’ve all had terrible deals?
Is that Latto? Singing R. Kelly at the top of her lungs? After she got online and implied that we shouldn’t listen to an act because of the actions of the people around them? lol.
I’m shocked that there weren’t any think pieces, magazine articles or general commotion about this. I guess it only matters when it’s his label mate? Lol.
@adamsxleon
@snipstweets
That really upset me. I don’t understand how people can be guests in a culture and think it’s okay to disrespect icons who helped changed the landscape of it.

Missy Elliot is undoubtedly one of the MOST, if not the most, creative people to ever step into Hip-Hop. Her sound was unique and she helped pushed the genre further. That being said, this person isn't incorrect. Missy was never an "ill MC". The music was good. The rapping? Meh.
Who said she wasn’t invited? Why does the internet continue to craft their own weird narratives, without any factual evidence. Much like Nicki Minaj, J. Cole is almost never present at these type of things, is he “never invited” or does he choose not to attend (like Nicki)?
It’s sad that Nicki Minaj can’t control her emotions enough to be present for this history moment. She doesn’t get along with anyone and that’s why as talented as she is (one of the BEST) she’s never invited.
It’s jarring to me that Sexy Red has caused this much discourse. For the past maybe 7-ish years, we’ve said that rappers don’t need to write their music, have a knowledge of the genre/acts before them, or be skilled. We said personality/fun trumps all and this is the result.
I was thinking about and rap music has such a low barrier to entry. Most other genres require some sort of talent or skill (singing, instruments, etc). You could never get a mainstream Sexyy Red in R&B or country music
@aVeryRichBish
People are quite LITERALLY risking their lives in an effort for a better tomorrow and rather than spending your time figuring out how you can assist those people and serve the cause in general you're..... worried abut Rap/Stan beef? That SPEAKS volumes.
Kanye was going around praising Hitler and talking about eradicating a race of people but a child’s mother letting her meet a rapper is the issue. Lol.
DaBaby was her “work husband” AFTER he was ON CAMERA assaulting black women. Meg was with Trey Songz AFTER MULTIPLE WOMEN came out and spoke against his predatory behavior. I feel for Meg and hope she gets justice, but if we’re going to talk about it, let’s talk about it.
Fab' knocked his wife's teeth out and rappers said nothing, so I don't really expect anyone to say anything about this situation honestly. They'll tell you how terrible Tekashi is for the "culture", though.
I’ll always laugh whenever I see “self-proclaimed Queen of Rap”. Listeners and media outlets were calling her the greatest of all time before her debut album dropped. No amount of rewriting history will change that.
@DaWriter
@asj519
1. She never slandered Tik-Tok or anyone who used it. She simply said that these songs weren’t created for *that*.
2. Her “mature sound” was her MOST successful, i.e. the Pinkprint.
3. You both are FAR too old to be bashing a black woman for simply breathing.
This was as terrible then as it is now. Writers should of course reference events for context, but it’s evident when they have personal vendettas. Since the release of your article, only two women in rap have had a stronger opening week than BMUS. Nicki was one of them.
Cole literally starts the song by stating that NoName is more intelligent than him and that he looks for her in times like this. How anyone could interpret that as an "attack" on her, I have no idea.
@wiz_thcreator
@_TaBoris
It’s funny because she said all of this and her fans are without a doubt still going to make this work on Tik-Tok/push it to

on the Hot 100, I can GUARANTEE you that it’s not winning ANY round against Beyoncé.
I’ve been trying to see Burna Boy for *at least* the last three years. I shrieked so loudly when I got my tickets, my supervisor came over to ask if I was okay.

@LowKeyUHTN
The only way Missy is winning is if you included her work as a producer for other acts (Jazmine, Aaliyah, etc.). If we’re talking STRICTLY artist catalog, Nicki’s putting her in a spin cycle.
Maybe it’s me getting old but… I just feel so full of love, lately. My family members know that Burna Boy is my favorite act and that African Giant is one of my favorite albums. For my birthday, my cousins sent me three of my favorite records and this was the last.
I might join the “Kanye was just hating” train because she ripped this, too. She said he made her send a few different versions, so I wonder if the others will surface as well.
Abeg. If Drake uttered two words about the Black American experience, people would QUICKLY remind him that he’s a biracial Jewish man from Canada. People are just looking to argue, at this point.
WATCH: Ebro Darden calls out Drake for never saying anything about Black issues
"Drake has never shown up to have anything to say about anything going on in society with Black folks"

I’m laughing as I KNOW that a non-black person wrote this. This series has been PHENOMENAL & today’s recent episode was arguably the best. Marvel is doing a GREAT job with this series, as it takes a critical glance at REAL WORLD issues, not just ones fought by people in capes.

To slander Simone and push a narrative that paints her as anything but happy for her teammate. This is exactly why athletes prefer not to interact with media.
It’s funny to me how people speak about things they know NOTHING about. Albums go on sale quite literally ALL the time. Taylor Swift, the act who’s seen the MOST SUCCESS from purely music, does this every release.
This is the level of chart obsession that the Greats refuse to participate or play in! This doesn’t generate any profits but debt for the singer and extended periods of record labels taking every single cent the music makes.
