It’s jarring to me that Sexy Red has caused this much discourse. For the past maybe 7-ish years, we’ve said that rappers don’t need to write their music, have a knowledge of the genre/acts before them, or be skilled. We said personality/fun trumps all and this is the result.
I was thinking about and rap music has such a low barrier to entry. Most other genres require some sort of talent or skill (singing, instruments, etc). You could never get a mainstream Sexyy Red in R&B or country music

This is the level of chart obsession that the Greats refuse to participate or play in! This doesn’t generate any profits but debt for the singer and extended periods of record labels taking every single cent the music makes.
