We can all sleep better tonight knowing that Romero
@romeronlsa
surgery went well and his spine is stabilized. He has a very long road to recovery but this surgery was the most crucial part. Such a relief for us all. Hopefully he will be able to start walking in a few days.
I always consider myself a lucky and fortunate person and when the saddle flips over during the middle of a breeze and I miraculously didn't fall off I'm able to laugh about it and jump back on the next horse. Rode like this for 6f until apprehended NY the outrider
For the best chance of staying healthy for myself and my family today is the last day i will be riding until things are in better order. Hopefully the owners and trainers who im riding for dont hold it against me in the future but the well being of myself and my family is first
Absolutely devastated to hear that fellow jockey Corey lanerie lost his wife to cancer. This is sad beyond words can explain. Everyone please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers
I am donating 5% of my total purse earnings starting today to sun Dec17 to aid the human and equine victims of San Luis rey.
What's the best fund to send my donation?
Yesterday we lost my grandfather George Maragh. He was the pioneer for the Maragh family into horse racing. We know he lived a great 85 years and he is no longer in pain. R.I.P.
Had to block 2 today, people that troll and talk negative towards me, no space for you. Im thankful for a great life and i want to portray that positivity around me. If you have bad energy and negative vibes, stay away. Come smile , laugh and be happy with me
I hope i dont insult anyone but im refraining from hugging, kissing and shaking hands when greeting people. I know its a big part of being a jockey but I have a pregnant wife and i hope to not contract the Corona virus and transport it to her. Just trying to be proactive
Romero will have to do surgery to stabilize his thoracic spine. Most likely in the morning. It's a very difficult time for him and his family. Thanks for everyone reaching out. This is crucial situation hopefully it goes well.
After 14 years and over 1,700 wins on the East coast I'm relocating to southern California. I'm very excited about this new phase in my life. I've always been intrigued by the history of horse racing in California and now I have a chance to be a part of it. Just living my dream
As the Saratoga 24' concludes, i thank my colleagues, on an behind the scenes,
@TheNYRA
,
@FOXSports
, our viewers , the racing community and my family. All your support have made this summer truly enjoyable. Heres to the summer place to be 🍻
I'm moving back to New York. Sunday will be my last day riding in California. I thank everyone for the opportunities. Hoping for a great weekend to end my venture here and excited about returning home.
So far about 3k in earnings today. Hopefully I'll rack up a lot more by Dec17. Plus already have a few people who will be matching my donation towards San Luis rey victims. Come on guys ride with me for a great cause
Very emotional and touching and also remember Jose Victor's brother is disabled from riding due to racing accident. We all have to be thankful everytime we get home safe win or lose. Also another of the many reasons we need the
#PDJF
As a fellow jockey I am devastated for Luis Saez, no jockey deserves to go through such a high if winning the derby and such an extreme low of being DQ. Especially that it wasnt his fault. Also my cousin Romero who rode the horse to 1st 2 victories then was injured shortly after
Tomorrow we will bury my beloved uncle who lost his battle 1 week after contracting Covid. 52 years thought he had many more. So tragic. Its really tough to swallow. Everyone that knows uncle tinny holds him in high regard. 2 covid deaths so close to us this week
🎉🎂🎈Turning 39 today and feeling incredibly grateful for this amazing life! Blessed with a wonderful wife, a loving son, supporting fam, and now excited for our daughter on the way. Feeling truly blessed on this special day! 🙏🎉👨👩👧👦

Talked to other jocks that rode
@GulfstreamPark
and they were more comfortable with the new protocols and "spreadout" setup. Thankfully i can go back to doing what i love to do and know that everyone is on the same page trying to keep us all safe and healthy. Back in the saddle
Im one of the luckiest person. Been so blessed in life. My best blessing is my family. Thank god for making me have another birthday 36 today. My first as a father. Thank god for the blessing of life
Land at Laguardia, hop of the plane , guy grabs my bag , hop into the shuttle I run up to the shuttle, door closes they drive off. Now I'm in baggage service and theres no record of my bag. Guys missing. Hope he has a girlfriend he can saddle up and use the riding crop.
Today's my last day riding in Santa Anita. It was a great experience, I got to meet some great people and experience the west coast lifestyle. I'm very thankful for the opportunities that I got. I'm excited to head back home to NY and be back with my family back east.
Congratulations to my cousin Romero Maragh
@romeronlsa
at only 18 y.o. and a few months riding wins 2 yesterday at gulfstream and ships in to
#Saratoga
to win with his first mount here.
About to head out to Saratoga for our premier race meet. Always exciting to go to a place which has been so instrumental in my career. I've had some of my biggest wins at Saratoga. Hoping for a healthy and prosperous meet for myself, the horses and everyone heading up there
I'm serving my 3 race day suspension Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, that's why I'm not riding at Belmont today. Didnt agree with the ruling but I just have to take it and move on. Good thing I get to go spend fathers day with my dad in Jersey.
unfortunate timing for Haikal to have a foot abscess the day before the derby.Thankfully that's a minor issue and he is being cared for by the best in the business
@KPMRacingStable
@ShadwellFarm
who puts the welfare of the horse paramount.Disappointing, but we keep moving forward
I'm thankful to have hit an unbelievable milestone of $100 million in purses my mounts earned. So thankful for all the horsemen who have supported me with opportunities, my agents and my family. Hopefully I'll be able to hit 2,000 wins. Dreams do come through
Good afternoon all, i started riding in 2003 at the age of 18. My 1st mount was at Calder. This is the last meet at Calder. So much history here. In the 17 year span ive seen so many tracks close. And none reopening. What can we do to preserve and rebuild horse racing, open 🎤
RiP to my hometown track Calder, so many great memories for myself and my family. The foundation of my career was built here. Honored to be a part of the final day of racing here
On plane to Cali I will try to tally up my earnings for last week sometime in the next few days and post the amount of my contribution to San Luis Ray fund for those who plan on matching my donation. Had a few winners for the week too bad for 1 cancel day
Making an early departure to Florida for the winter, tomorrow is my last day in NY , start riding full time in FL on Wednesday. So exciting looking forward to the lovely sunshine state
While i enjoyed the community firework show last night, i couldnt help but think the $250,000 could be put to much better use. Like education or food for the community. Its literally lighting $ on fire. But i did enjoy the show.
Every racetrack thats shut down with horses stabled should provide food for the horses and compensation for the backstretch workers during their shutdown to keep owners and trainers. The American government should reimburse the tracks as part of their business stimulus package.
30 days ago I weighed 133 pounds.
I haven't had a drink of alcohol since.
What's my weight today?
1st correct answer wins this Pic of
@RADominguez76
and I in a stretch battle.
Winner will be announced tomorrow so post your answer.
Horrid scene st San Luis Ray but the bravery and selfishness of the individuals to do all they can for the horses should not go unaccounted. Shows the love and care the industry have for the horses. Hope for the best.
That
@ljlmvel
left hand has been such a big difference maker in many close battles. Again yesterday in Oaks, today in derby. He used his tool in an appropriate manner to compete for victory. Taking that aspect out of racing would be a bad move
I had a hard time sleeping last night had lots of nightmares after watching videos of what happen at San Luis Ray so I can't imagine how scared are the people who were there and witnessed it first hand. How hard and traumatic must it be for them
When new love comes into your life, your heart doesn’t get rid of anything. It grows to make more room.
Here we grow again! Baby Maragh coming October 2024 ❤️🍼
Happy father's day to all the fathers out there. I grew my desire to be a jockey watching my father ride when I was growing up in Jamaica. Always wanted to be like dad and follow in his footsteps. Hopefully I can win something today for him
Amazing day for my family as my cousin Romero Ramsay
@romeronlsa
wins his first ever race in his 4th career ride. That's a dream come true for him and everyone that knows him
After working Irish War Cry for the derby I thought he was a lay up.
My strategy was , get him in a smooth rhythm, put him in a good spot and cut him loose when coming to the finish line. That simple.
Went exactly to plan to the final turn then he evened out.
The oldest jockey to ride a KY derby will be Johnny Loftus, tomorrow he will ride Sir Barton. The two captured the triple crown in 1919. Johnny is the most experienced jockey in the race but im still going with Secretariat
Congratulations to one of my biggest idols
@ljlmvel
on a 6,000 win milestone. Not only is a a super talent, hes dedicated himself to being a great jockey. Well earned and well deserved
In August Ill be spending a week in Saratoga. Its been quite a few years since ive been to the magical city. My first time seeing it from a different lens, as a spectator and not a jockey.
Thats a bit weird for me but im so excited for the experience.
