A "border security" bill was always something the Speaker supported. An immigration bill that does more harm than good at the border, was always something the Speaker opposed.
In November, Speaker Johnson said: “With our appropriations bills for Ukraine funding, for example, we’re going to marry that with border security."
But when Trump said he didn’t want Republicans to solve the border problem for the campaign, Johnson obediently changed his tune.
