The goal of design exercises should be to get a feel for your chemistry when working together, not to assess if you can design or not. Take a whiteboarding session if you need to. There’s a reason designers put their heart and soul into making a portfolio, judge them on that

Do not send a design assignment to every candidate who applies to your job posting. Segregate candidates based on their profile & portfolio, ensure selected candidates are getting feedback for their assignments and reasons to why they would not be moving on with the candidate.

If you’re a recruiter, I completely understand you’d want to verify the designer's skillset or style. But when you’re doing so give a decent problem statement to solve which can actually be finished in 3-7 days and not an entire case study in 24 hours :)

Salary expectations and work culture CAN NOT be discussed after the assignments. However, there are also companies who concur with your expectations and after the assignment back out saying they don’t have the budget :). This needs to change.

Dexign workshops successfully raised half a lakh worth of funds during the charity workshop conducted on the 2nd of may.
It was wonderful to see the number of people coming in to donate as well as take learnings from it.

Design is not engineering. There are numerous approaches to a problem that requires testing and iteration to get to anything like a good solution.
If a company is asking you to do a whole case study in the time which isn’t sufficient ask them for more time or say NO

A lot of designers won’t start applying for jobs until they’ve quit due to time-consuming assignments they will be expected to complete. Those that do engage with assignments while employed burn their evenings and weekends to get them done. Resulting in low quality outputs

Largely for me it’s been influenced by the place I work or the mentors I look up to. It then gets added to the styles I like.
