This used to be my job and it really is the best. It’s a chance to work in the regions but lead the news agenda with the opportunity to get your work on the BBC front page and other major platforms if you can find the right stories.
Job number two has gone live! We’re looking for an experienced cross platform reporter (who can also news read) to join our small but dynamic team generating original and impactful stories from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Just catching up with the Dads who had the bravery to speak at the vigil. The way they supported each other as they stood. The humour, and affection and deep deep love for their children who were living their young lives as hard as possible. Just wow.

The director of
@wearehimmah
says he was convinced an email saying Meghan Markle had singled out the charity and was to benefit from £10,000 was a hoax! The charity has only just decided to go public with the news in solidarity with Duchess after recent negative headlines.
And as for me… well I’m moving on from my bossy ways. After 7 years producing the BBC Nottingham breakfast show I’m going to be pioneering a new way of working as a digital reporter for the BBC (radio, online and tv) with a focus on original journalism. A new challenge for sure.
Supporting each other through the good and bad times. Big personal sacrifice when you both work for the same organisation but we’re both passionate believers in serving our communities.
Somewhere in

the person who vaccinated my folks is hopefully setting down on the sofa after a very long day. It may be their 6th day of working. Or their second job. Please know how incredibly grateful I am for your time, kindness and allowing me to sleep a little easier.
Right I’m done with the working week. Because we’re a BBC house we’ve done the obligatory BBC news dance. (You can tell standards have dropped as a) we have no shame b) there is a massive basket of washing in shot and c) if in doubt I’m the one with my name on my t-shirt).🙈
Just a little irk. It’s lovely to see so much support for local radio. But it’s not always just a “training ground”. Some of us have been in the regions for ages. Often with stints away at network but we come back. Because we know the audience, the quirks, the patch, the contacts
19 year old step son asked me if it is safe to go out tonight. "Safe as anywhere is" I replied. And that in itself makes me sad that really you never know what may happen and all you can do is live your life and keep your wits about you.
Just been listening to Peter Soulsby on
@BBCLeicester
fascinating just how little detail there still is on the specifics of how
#leicesterlockdown
will work. Great work by my colleagues to get him straight on. A reminder how invaluable

is for its communities right now
Back in October I went along to Rufford to see the beautiful light show and had the devastating call that my Dad has stage 3 bowel cancer and a pre-existing heart condition made surgery very risky. 9 months later he is cancer free and we reset my memories of Rufford to happy.
HMV has been saved from administration. The Canadian music store owner Doug Putman has bought the chain, and has pledged to keep 100 stores open and save 1,500 jobs.
It’s my birthday so went to Derbyshire. Power walked up to the top of
Black Rocks. Shouted out for 41 to “f**k off” and then went for a nice cafe lunch. Feel much better!
It’s a wrap and today totally summed up my producer life: disgruntled guests, finding a bucket as a prop, sorting out broadcasting logistics of pouring water over

@sarahjulianotts
live on air, crying on air, laughing on air, and all before 9am. It’s been a blast. 🎧
If you want journalism practice I suggest asking my daughter about her first day of school. I’ve been one for 16 years and I’ve only found out:
1) dinner was in the hall
2) no one wanted custard
3) they had “Bear Hunt” read to them
She’ll be taking no further questions.

Super 7s is a savvy bit of marketing
@Official_NCFC
what a well put together evening to encourage children to go and see a game. I’m ill and tired but even I had fun having a tour and a peep round the dressing room. And
@LesBradd
is a wonderful ambassador for the club.
@NathanEdge94
That’s incredible! Like many things I’m ignorant too, I’ve never considered how someone who is blind may be able to “see” their scan. I’m fascinated and moved seeing this!
@MichaelRosenYes
@hayfestival
And you’ve helped my little girl understand that it’s not just birds that need to migrate! Thank you for not giving up on a very long queue for a book signing on Saturday.
I don’t think I’ve felt such trepidation going into a working week. What will be announcing tomorrow for
#Nottingham
and the shire tomorrow? It’s the biggest story as a journalist I’ve ever had to tell. And then you finish work and remember you’re directly affected too.
It’s been a really tough week for so many colleagues and friends in our industry.
It’s more than a job. It’s a way of life. We live in our communities so we breathe our stories and look for our characters and content every single day. Sending love to all.

Tonight marked the 55th turkey Thanksgiving dinner my Dad has cooked for my American Mum. Having nearly losing his life in September we had lots to be thankful. Despite ongoing challenges we’re all here. Aside from Col who had to work.
Quite a day. Going home to try and process what has happened. Thank you to all my twitter contacts for helping us to keep factually across an emerging story. Heartbreaking to see Nottingham on breaking news channels.

Absolute hero gram to my girl
@RadioHayley
who got out of bed with one hour notice to present her first ever

breakfast show and sounded totally unflappable!
Been a busy evening defriending people on Facebook. I’ve always found it useful to keep some people on board whose views may differ from my own but who reflect debates I need to keep across to ensure fairness in my job. However turns out some people are just racist.

I am a woman of my word. Invincible in my high vis and helmet at 4.45am doing the Tour de Radcliffe to Bbc Nottingham 9k. Saw a fox and rabbits and a squadron of geese. Also had little sleep worrying about doing it!

The face of someone switching off the early alarm for 5 days. I’m shattered, I sometimes question my sanity, but what a privilege to try and tell the Covid story. It’s hard to feel bleak when you know the
#Notts
community can find joy in the darkest of times. Thanks for listening
That's me done
@BBCNottingham
for 7 days (annual leave). It's been a privilege and a marathon. I've never known a week like it, but it's felt good to help in a little way. Time to decompress with my family. Keep safe and well, and I'll be back producing Breakfast soon.
Marry someone like
@ColinHazelden
who recreates your cancelled holiday with

cider, fish and chips and the sound effect of crashing waves. I’m so happy!
Really emotional hearing

Today, me and

had a full on pub ploughman’s lunch in the work kitchen! We celebrate 13 years together at the weekend after an initial chat about being single in the same work kitchen! Romance is never dead

Just had Emily Campbell live on

I’ve had a very very hard week. But then I got a photo of my dear Dad on holiday. He swam in the sea for the first time in 5 years after bowel cancer treatment, stoma reversal, and everything in between and the photo of him was joyous!
@StigAbell
My first ever news-reading gig as a tender 21 year old resulted in me saying “N Haitch S” over and over again. 5 bulletins in I took a call from a gentleman who screamed “it’s Aitch Aitch Aitch - you moron” down the phone at me. It was a brutal but effective lesson.
I feel low, caught in the vortex of being ill with Covid and doom scrolling the news. Terrible combination.
But tonight at parents evening the teacher singled out our daughter’s kindness. And that will be the light I take to bed with me tonight.
The R number for Nottinghamshire currently sits between 0.8 and 1.1 according to Public Health Officials in

I hope you never end up with a loved one rushed into critical care. But if like me you find yourself in that position pray they’re the one with a fruit magnet next to their name on the patient board. It means they’re eating: never been so happy to see a 🍍
A senior ICU consultant at the QMC says it makes him angry that people aren't choosing to take a Covid vaccine. Dan Harvey says the majority of patients in ICU haven't been vaccinated and are taking up beds needed by people who are taken in after road accidents for example.
Getting ready for the challenge of shortly starting a stint at a leadership role by heading up the Nottingham cross platform story team for a couple of months. Reporter, turned Producer, turned film-maker, turned news editor. It’s a 2024 mini adventure. Be part of it!
Make sure you make your choice tomorrow and vote, whatever that choice may be.
I chose, 9 years tomorrow to marry

and look at us now… he’ll be spending the night at the Mansfield election count and I’ll be news editing
in Mission Control back in Nottm. Romance!
Bloody hell people... my film, and my camerawork (most importantly) made it onto

this morning and Sally Nugent gave me a name check. I’m easily excited. (But I’m very excited). And so happy that such an important topic (taboo of premature babies) got exposure!
A fish and chip shop in Ashfield says they're giving between 20-30 portions of free food out to low income families EVERY DAY. The owner of the Golden Cod says they can't really afford to do it but they want to do it.

Told my daughter I hadn’t made it through to the next round of a writing competition. She put her hand on my leg and said “does that make you sad?”.
I said it made me a bit disappointed but I’d been proud to get that far.
“Well if you’re not sad, that’s ok” she said.
I love her.
Immense love for our

Remember the 80s when you didn’t social distance or even blink an eye at having Santa kiss you on the lips? This is me at the Co-Op department store grotto in I reckon 1984.
It’s

My husband and the whole BBC Nottingham team on TV, radio and online have worked so hard. It’s so wonderful that their hard work finished with a victory story to tell for one side at least. Lots of broadcasters who will remember this for a long time!
Leicester City’s Victoria Park party, Derby County’s march of protest and solidarity. And now Nottingham Forest’s Market Square celebration. Football brings us together!
Off to bed. 4am alarm set ahead of working on loan with

The camaraderie amongst families waiting for those in surgery
@nottmhospitals
was really overwhelming. 3 families. All our loved ones went in the same time. All had ops lasting much longer than expected. The shared relief hearing they were out of theatre was something else.
Be an absolute boss today in whatever you’re doing. Head up. Chest out. Send out some positive energy and get stuff done. We’ve lost an absolute girl boss icon today and I was so lucky to have worked for, and with her.

is one of the most powerful pieces of theatre I’ve ever seen. But the people who need to see it are the policymakers and the Jacob Dunnes who may not think a night at the theatre is for them. That play needs to travel and offer hope.
