100 years ago to the day, Walter Hagen secured victory at
#RLGCHoylake
in the 1924 Open Championship. Securing his second of four Open titles, Royal Liverpool threw everything at Hagen, demanding a steely up-and-down on the 72nd hole for the title.
The very definition of a hero's reception for
@Matthew_Jordan7

A T10 finish and countless magical memories made along the way. Truly a week to cherish.

A hero's reception and a closing birdie for
@Matthew_Jordan7
on the 72nd hole of his home

It was a week in which Mother Nature showed her full repertoire here at

Congratulations to Brian Harman, The 151st Open Champion.
#TheOpen
He’s done it! Huge congratulations to Matty Jordan on securing a spot at his home Open here at

Royal Liverpool's Links Manager
@JamesBledge
explains how he and his team are preparing for the Championship as we get ready to host the world's best golfers in July.
That Friday feeling when you make it through to the weekend at
@TheOpen
at your home club. Well played,
@matthew_jordan7
- see you back out there tomorrow.
From divot mix to sand dressing, sustainability is at the forefront of the course work we do at Hoylake.
@JamesBledge
talks us through the efforts undertaken at the club to harmonise with our local environment in 2022 and beyond!
"I couldn't be prouder, being the person at the helm of the ship taking the team into The Open."
With our preparations for next year's Open Championship starting to ramp up, take a moment to hear from Links Manager,
@JamesBledge
!
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Ivor Robson. The official starter at The Open for more than 40 years, Ivor's voice will forever be synonymous with the Championship.
Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, loved ones, and his many friends within golf.
The Open configuration means that, like the treacherous 17th at Sawgrass, 'Little Eye' will be the penultimate hole, a place where the Claret Jug could easily be won or lost.
Hosting
@TheOpen
Championship in your final year as Head Professional after four decades of service. There couldn’t be a more fitting end to a momentous chapter.
Happy New Year! Today we celebrate the beginning of a huge year for
#RLGCHoylake
, as we look forward to
#The151stOpen
coming to town. The countdown is well and truly on.
It is truly the end of an era for
#RLGCHoylake
as we bid farewell to our Head Professional, John Heggarty, after more than 40 years of of service.
John has been a wonderful ambassador for the club, so please join us in thanking him, and wishing him the best in his next chapter.
Anticipation for
#The151stOpen

Today, the Head of
@TheOpen

An extremely warm welcome to the new members of our greenkeeping staff, Chris Trimble and Rhian Barton.
Chris joins

A few broken ropes recently had definitely caused some confusion here at
#RLGCHoylake
. As it turns out, the problem was actually a 'fantastic' sight. 🦊
This morning starting with a mix of sunshine and clouds with a light breeze. It’s expected to get sunnier and windier as the day goes on. Have a great day everyone

Three majors down...One to go. It's all eyes on

now as we prepare to host the season's final major,

Championship, in just over four weeks' time. Who will be adding their name to the illustrious list of champions to have lifted the Claret Jug?
With each passing sunset we take a step closer to this year's 151st

Recently added sand scrapes around The Open Championship 7th tee replace wet rough areas with more natural sand.

Here's a sneak peek inside the clubhouse on Open Sunday where we were pleased to extend the famous Hoylake welcome to our guests.
The opening hole for this year's

Required: Accuracy. Courage.
With out of bounds on one side and the clubhouse on the other, 'Course' is a challenging opening hole.
A sharp dog leg to the right demands a well positioned drive, leaving a second shot to a green protected by a swale and out of bounds.

With a tee shot flanked by out of bounds on one side and the clubhouse on the other, the 3rd hole for
@TheOpen
, 'Course' - usually the opening hole for members - features a sharp dog leg to the right and a second shot into a green protected by a swale.
With severe runoffs on three sides, 'Little Eye' is a a classic example of a par 3 that does not require great length to make it a hole which will test even the world's best golfers.
The historic links of Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake, Wirral, is undergoing changes designed to make the course an even more attractive test of golf and secure Hoylake's aspiration to remain an Open Championship venue of the future. See link:
6th hole - 'New'
Did you know: 'New' was built in 1965, using turf taken from a bowling green situated in front of the clubhouse - and the area where the bowling green once stood is now a car park.
Today, 'New' is a tricky par 3 surrounded by deep bunkers.
Completely redeveloped for the 2020 season,
#HoylakeLittleEye
is a classic example of a par 3 that does not require great length to make it an interesting hole. The newly constructed green is elevated and set into the sand dunes with great views of the Dee Estuary.
It’s developed into a beautiful day with the sun now managing to keep the rain at bay for the moment. Ideal conditions for the players to get out on the links to practise

We’re ready for the second round of The 151st Open Championship. Another thrilling day of action lies ahead. Who will be sitting atop the leaderboard heading into the weekend?
#TheOpen
Did you know that for the first seven years of our existence, from 1869 to 1876, the links land doubled as a golf course and a horse racing track? Nods to this heritage can be found in the names of the 1st and 18th holes, Course and Stand (the 3rd and 2nd holes for
@TheOpen
).
The 13th hole for
@theopen
championship,
#HoylakeAlps
– usually the 11th for the members – plays as a 190-yard par-3 that is slightly downhill and into the prevailing westerly wind. Which club would you take?

Dun, the 18th hole for
@TheOpen
, seen like never before!
The early morning light here really shows the contours around the green, particularly the run off areas off the back of the green, along with the devilishly positioned bunkers surrounding it.
The 12th hole for
@TheOpen
Championship,
#HoylakeDee
– which plays as the 10th for members – is a demanding par-4 measuring 444 yards. With three bunkers down the right, it can be tempting to take off some of the dog-leg, but thick rough makes this a risk and reward strategy.
It was clear from an early age that
@matthew_jordan7
was going to be a special talent. Here he is with his proud parents as he prepares for the honour of hitting the opening tee shot when the 151st
@TheOpen
Championship gets under way tomorrow.
With stunning views across the Dee Estuary, ‘Alps’ - which plays as the 13th hole during

championship, is a challenging par 3 usually playing into a cross wind.
As a lifelong passion for many, it's wonderful to see different generations of golfer coming together at

Played into a prevailing right-to-left crosswind,
#HoylakeDowie
is the 9th hole the players will face at this year’s
@TheOpen
championship. Played as the 7th for the members, this par-3 features bunkers left and right and measure over 200 yards from the back tee.
