The Royal Irish Regiment is delighted with today’s announcement from Buckingham Palace that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh is appointed Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Irish Regiment.
Following His Majesty’s Accession, The King is pleased to announce further military appointments for working members of the Royal Family.
The new appointments will continue to reflect the close relationship between the Armed Forces and the Royal Family in His Majesty’s reign.

It is with the greatest sadness that we hear of the death of an Irish Peacekeeper on the very day that the last of our Rangers have returned from UN Peacekeeping operations in Mali.
We offer our sincerest Regimental condolences.
The Royal Irish Regiment are extremely honoured and proud of the role they played in the ceremonial events following the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

St. Patrick’s Day is the foremost day in the Regimental Calendar, marking Ireland’s National Day, the Patron Saint of Ireland and, following Queen Victoria’s direction in 1900, commemorating the gallantry of Her Irish soldiers during the Second Boer War
Whilst you slept this morning, D Company 1 R IRISH completed the infamous Brecon 3 miler.
Soldiers are expected to complete this uphill course in less than 33 minutes. 🏃☘️

The Tudor - or Imperial or King’s - Crown has replaced the Royal - or Queen’s - Crown.

Capt Chris Rushton attended the rededication service for his great-great-uncle, Lt Frederic Hornsby Lever Rushton MC, in France yesterday.
Lt Rushton served in the 2nd Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment and was awarded the Military Cross posthumously in 1915.

It is with great sadness that the ITC announce the passing of one of our soldiers. Ranger Petero Bulivou died following a short illness with his family by his side on 13 March. The ITC are continuing to support his family at this tragic time.

SPIES is used to rapidly insert or extract personnel from terrain unsuitable for a helicopter landing.
At the conclusion of their Infantry Cup semi final, the rugby players of 1 R IRISH and the Welsh Guards gathered together to sing a moving tribute to former Lance Corporal 'Lala' Lalakato who died suddenly last week. Our prayers are with his family.
