@JoshuaKagan1 @EPBResearch Key question is how easily lenders will loan on expectations of demand growth? Since Great Recession are they more risk averse?

@StatisticUrban Because of high housing costs, even the middle class in CA are poor. “Supplemental” is an official Census Bureau method, but the folk wisdom is that Homeowners at least are “house rich, cash poor”

@FurmanCenterNYU Yes, supply first, then vouchers! The shortage crisis chokes off many demand-side initiatives.

@vb_jens @michael_wiebe It looks to be just over 3 links average in this Helsinki distribution, based on my mental math. Adding 1 more for the vacant new unit, would the total multiplier of all HHs benefited by the new construction equal 4?

@michael_wiebe Thanks for sharing! I see it’s the Helsinki study using a population register. Wish we had that in US. So they only go 6 rounds like Mast because the last rounds are less fruitful. Lot of inference applied even with a register. Surely they could calculate a weighted avg chain.

@michael_wiebe But new chains can start in more ways than just construction—think when renters leave renting for owning, or divorce and death, or migration out of town.
