Ex-City Matters rep for Manchester City seasoncard holders, King of the Kippax fanzine writer & podcaster. Scourge of those who peddle untruths about my club.
🗣 Jurgen Klopp on Pep Guardiola stating it's more important to win the Premier League than the Champions League:
"Pep has to say that because he was not in the Champions League final for a while! He's a great manager and deserves all the praise he gets."

Funny that all the journalists telling us we shouldn't trust UEFA's version of events last night were only too happy to trust UEFA's version of events when they charged City with FFP breaches that were comprehensively demolished by an independent arbitration panel.
Laughing at Gary Neville's desperate comments about City not having the roots, tradition and history of united. Let's give Gary a little lesson about some of these things shall we? Let's talk about roots first.
To all the Arsenal fans singing "Shite fans, no history" after the game, I'd just like to point out:
- We won the FA Cup 26 years before you did.
- We won the League Cup 17 years before you did.
- We won the European Cup Winners Cup 24 years before you did.
Swansea, bottom of the PL having won just 4 games, with only 2 of those at home, beat Liverpool thanks to an assist from their £70m defender. This was proper football. This was Klopp's football. This is Liverpool.
3 months ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, which really knocked me for six for a while. I modified my diet, cut out the crap, & took more exercise. I've now lost 10kg and my 3-month blood check shows my blood-sugar level is well back in the normal range. I'm so thrilled.
Just seen something funny. UEFA's aggregate losses for the last 3 years were €58.1m. Adding back depreciation reduces that by €16.2m to €31.9m. FFP maximum allowable loss is €30m. Therefore UEFA failed its own FFP test.
Been going through the PL handbooks for the various years that charges relate to and, for example, they've charged us under Rule E3 in 2011/12. Yet Rule E3 for that year says that, except for televised games, games will be played at 3pm on Saturdays. They've fucked up here.
For our newer fans who are used to seeing City as a successful club, today is the 20th anniversary of reaching the lowest league position in our history, when we lost at York City and were 12th in what is now League 1. Those of us who kept the faith deserve to see our success.
July 2040: UEFA President Vincent Kompany announces that Manchester United are suspended from all football activities until they've paid off every penny of their £525m debt.
Been in Manchester centre today & the crowd is gathering for tomorrow's big European game. Always good to see and interact with those not familiar with our City, many probably visiting Manchester for the very first time. And there's some Omonia Nicosia fans here as well.
I want Pep Guardiola to manage a team like Wolverhampton Wanderers, and prove a big point. He doesn’t need to win a trophy, just manage the Wolves. Mourinho is at Tottenham, Ancelotti is at Everton, Bielsa is at Leeds, why not Guardiola at Wolves. Think about it.
Just had an email from
@ManCity
to remind me to print my ticket for tomorrow (which I'd already done)
I'm going to be replying, reminding them to buy a fucking striker (which they're still pissing about with).
So - Government White Paper on an Independent Football Regulator due on Feb 5th (but delayed). PL charge City on Feb 6th. New ESL proposals announced on Feb 9th.
I'm sure all these timings are completely coincidental.
@mrjakehumphrey
@btsport
BT spent more on you & pundits than Chester Zoo spent on building their monkey house. And the monkeys are more intelligent & entertaining.
Pep acknowledges Cruyff as his inspiration as a manager but I've never heard Klopp credit Sam Allardyce, who was clearly his. Reliance on set pieces, loads of crosses into the the box and getting it forward quickly. Klopp owes everything to Fat Sam.
Just a reminder that if you're having a bonfire tonight, please remember to check under any piles of wood or rocks to see if there's any United fans sheltering there
Funny how not one of the journalists who have stuck the boot into City seem interested in a big story linking a UEFA EC member charged with corruption, the club he owns & the suspicious action of the UEFA CFCB Chief Investigator on behalf of that club. Wonder why?
For when we're back at games...
All the way to Anfield
To end up in defeat
No one's in the stands
The goalie's got cold feet
Pickford injured Virgil
The wind is howling through
The players all have asthma
And God's a fucking Blue
Allez, allez, allez...
Ok. Here's my promised thread on the comparative finances of the top 6 clubs. This looks at the published accounts from 2014/15 to 2019/2020. Twitter isn't the best for this but I'll do an updated version of my KOTK article and post that so that people can get a fuller picture.
"We've tried FFP & they've beaten that. We've nobbled Riley and his refs & they've beaten that. We hired the Special One & he's turned out to be a useless twat. We've tried to get a transfer ban & they've beaten that. I'm running out of ideas Alex"
Remarkable how effective the media have been in convincing the fanbase that City are guilty of being cheats and frauds, despite none of them having a clue about FFP or financial stuff whatsoever. Some still don't understand the outcome of the CAS hearing.
Maguire talking about looking in the mirror in the post mach interview. By the time he's turned to look at his mirror it'll be 2 yards behind him & he'll be wondering where it's gone.
@SkyKaveh
And how did they generate that money? Blackmailed the Football League to end gate money sharing then same again to set up the PL. Finally manipulating the CL format so they made loads of money even if they won nothing.
In line with their colleagues on Merseyside, GMP have released the route that the Man Utd team bus will be taking tomorrow. It'll be going into Rowsley St, down the tunnel, onto the pitch and will park in front of the goal.
Instead of giving Liverpool a traditional guard of honour, I hope our players & staff line up each side and lob bottles, cans and flares at them as they pass through
City, by complete coincidence, are about to announce the Abu Dhabi CFG World Cup. Each of tbe 8 CFG clubs gets £100m for taking part, with £500m to the winner.
Manchester City's hierarchy won their war against Uefa, but their campaign against European football's governing body did not do much to win friends or influence people.
Hey
@LFC
- Ferran Soriano says in order to minimise travel, could you bring this with you to Manchester on Sunday please. We'll arrange to collect it. You probably won't need the ribbons again for quite a while but keep them anyway. Make sure you polish it. Ta.
Dear
@premierleague
. What is so important about football matches that they HAVE to be played in front of empty stadiums? NOTHING!
Why not do something sensible & postpone games for a couple of weeks until things get better or clearer? Just for once, consider matchgoing fans.
Four years of sweating blood as part of the City Matters committee and all I got was...
THIS SHIRT SIGNED BY THE FIRST TEAM SQUAD!!!!!! Had the most fantastic day. Thanks
@ManCity
Must come as a complete shock to them to see police actually doing their job instead of standing around and giving carte blanche to hooliganism. Try standing on a Spanish police van then see how many unbroken bones you have when they've finished with you.
Funny how a week ago, with 1 point between the top 3 teams, it was the most exciting PL title finish ever. Today, with a massive 2 points between those same 3 teams, it's a procession and boring.
Rule E11 for 2011/12, which we've been charged under, says "Each club shall enter the FA Cup". That was the season we lost 3-2 when Vinny was ludicrously sent off. There's charges for rules about away tickets. It's a complete fuck up. They're amateurs. We;'ll crush them in court.
@tariqpanja
If you can't understand why the most consistently successful club, in the world's wealthiest league, who've played 12 consecutive seasons in the richly rewarded CL, has earned more revenue than other PL clubs then maybe you shouldn't be looking at clubs' finances.
Story in Der Spiegel today claiming they didn't give UEFA any of the evidence they had, which confirms what I heard a while ago that all UEFA had was the emails in the stories DS printed. And they brought a case on that basis. It would be unbelievable if it wasn't true.
All the LFC fans still crying over Bernardo's brew for their guard of honour 4 years ago & saying it's "karma". Since then he's won 3 PL titles, an FA Cup, the CL (as part of a treble) plus the Super & Club World Cups. He's also never played on Thu night. Karma is indeed a bitch
@kylewalker2
Given you were the one who wasn't paying attention & played Rondon onside for Newcastle's equaliser, without which we might have been just 2 points behind them now, I think I'd have kept that tweet to myself.
On this day in 1894, at a crowded meeting, it was agreed to form a new football club & Ardwick FC, the club it grew out of, formally dropped its opposition to the move. Happy 125th birthday
@ManCity
.
Knowing little or nothing about the PL charges, the media have whipped up the narrative that City are guilty as charged.
Knowing little or nothing about City's case against the PL the media have whipped up the narrative that City's case is malicious.
8 clubs allegedly wrote to CAS asking them to ensure City's CL ban wasn't suspended, even though City haven't asked for it to be. And even though City might be cleared of wrongdoing and get the ban overturned when CAS hear the case. Burnley & Liverpool were 2 of those clubs
Perhaps I'm being a bit pedantic but this annoyed me. Son didn't "miss" that chance, it was an exceptional save from Ortega. A City fan can't give credit for a season-defining moment from one of our players, when non-City fans recognise the quality of the save.
In his first full season, Solskjaer's 27th PL game was a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle.They had 50 points.
Ten Hag's 27th PL game was a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. They have 50 points.
Met the new boss, same as the old boss.
I know there are some of my followers that I know personally who would want to know that, sadly, my dear mum died yesterday evening. She'd been ill for a few years but battled bravely & passed away peacefully.
Great piece by Stuart laying bare Liverpool's rise from Division 2 mediocrities to success, made possible by - yes that's right - money!
Liverpool's great history myth exposed as they prepare for Man City crunch
Another journalist,
@TonyEvans92a
assured us that UEFA's case was strong and not based solely on the Der Spiegel hacked emails but on evidence that City themselves supplied. He couldn't have been more wrong as it turns out. He was either telling porkies or needs better sources.
