So true. But Dr. Sagan did not anticipate that medicine and agriculture, along with its corresponding science, would be so thoroughly co-opted by corporatism and a desire for profit, over the desire for the well-being of humans and this planet, even scientific progress. A good accompaniment might be to look at the work of Thomas Kuhn. Another Sagan quote wrt humans ... "an interesting species. An interesting mix ... capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares." This is true of all humans, including those in the medical, scientific, and agricultural fields. Learn the scientific method and learn to identify statistical misleads and ASK QUESTIONS. Take sovereignty over your mind and body. If you can't stand up for what is right, at least stand behind those that do.
