Guess who's back?!
Pleased & excited to be taking over the reins at The Plough, Wombleton, Nth Yorks.
Will be offering you a lovely, seasonal choice menu with wines & beers to boot.
Expect to be open by mid September.
More details to follow.
Looking forward to welcoming you back.
⭐OVER & OUT!
Thankyou to everyone who has supported us over the many years we have been living this crazy life of hospitality!
Glad so many of you have enjoyed our offerings.
We have met so many fab people.
Now looking forward to whatever the future may hold.
Bye for now🙏
To say we are utterly pissed off & dejected at today's news is an understatement.
I realise many will be feeling exactly the same.
Why did they have to leave until the last minute??
So much work & stock purchased for nothing. We simply cannot keep absorbing these mass losses🙈
Delighted Lindsey & I have been recognised as one of the very best places in the UK.
Many thanks
@Top50Gastropubs
& all industry peers who voted for us.
A massive vindication to the huge daily effort we always put in, never letting our standards slip, despite working unaided👨🍳⭐
Really looking forward to this prestigious event tomorrow.
Very proud in less than 3 years Lindsey & I have taken the Hovingham Inn from nothing to being recognised as one of the better places in the UK.
Having only opened two months ago, chuffed that we have made it on to the Estrella Top 100 UK Gastropubs.
Hopefully, we can work towards being back in the Top 50 again, next year.
Not bad for a kitchen brigade of just one!!👨🍳👍
#top50ukgastropubs
So out of 7 confirmed interviews only 2 have had the decentcy to turn up.
WTF is going on with people?
Anybody else having similar experiences?
About time some started to lower their completely unrealistic expectations of work & improve their own personal standards.
#delusional
@SilvioTattiscon
Could think of less painful ways of getting a shoeing, over a raging bull.
If you play with fire, then burns usually follow.
Why people do this is beyond me.
Incedently, any news on the lad? Looked in bad way.
Thank you very much
@Top50Gastropubs
& those that voted for us.
Lindsey & I give it our all. Standards mean absolutely everything to us.
Humbled to know our efforts have been recognised. Much appreciated🙏
@DavidLammy
It's like having to listen to kids with you lot. He said this, she said that. First time in my voting life, got absolutely no confidence in any political party.
Your all in positions of priveledge, now please, for the love of God, get on with it & do your bloody jobs🙈
Lost for words, no class👇
Can't remember blaming anybody!
Achieving a top UK 50 gastropub, doesn't take much effort does it!
How many other operators paid a full rent & a rent INCREASE throughout lockdown?? And didn't obstruct any viewing they asked.
Not quite the professional.
A weekly tradition of sending out a couple of plates of complimentary Sunday roast bits & bobs for the bar.
Our little way of saying thank you to the locals who have enthusiastically supported the pub since our arrival👍
The past year has been the toughest on all fronts in our 17 years. So very positive to receive this recognition.
Ultimately the business is still in its infancy & has not had the proper opportunity to develop.
Not sure of the future but we not done yet!!👍
After 4 months in the planning we are really pleased to finally be able to tell folks about our next move. Hope to build on our previous pub experience.
#top30ukdiningpub
Really looking forward to serving the community & further afield. Cheers!
To the x5 no shows today. We could of sold table elsewhere if you had been kind enough just to call. It's not asking too much.
Every penny counts right now.
And x5 who arrived 1 hour late, then started demanding to be fed there & then.
Rude & obnoxious doesn't cut it right now🙈
If you are a chef or operator that is feeling overwhelmed or anxious and need a chat, please DO get in touch.
I may not be able solve a great deal but can definitely lend you an ear of support.
Having been through so many challenges over the years, if I can help, I will👍
To suggest the world all go vegan is ludicrous What might be a better idea is a complete ban on intensive farming practices Give more respect to the farmers & suppliers who do it right We might then see the true value of meat, which may offer a better balance to all
@BBCBreaking
Had covid jab today. No idea how got so early! Lindsey still waiting.
If you get offered it GO! Injection takes a millisecond.
Don't worry about all the side effect nonsense doing the rounds.
I was straight out on my bike for a 35 mile exercise session!!
Superbly organised NHS👍
Well must be doing something right considering the past year we've had!
Thank you very much to all who have voted for us. Really chuffed.
A great start for a new business.
NOTICE
It is with huge sadness & disbelief that we have no choice but to cease trading following this Sunday.
Like many our business has been rapidly pulled apart. We do intend continuing for rest of week, please feel free to join us.
We wish everyone luck & hope we all return x
The new Chateaubriand fillet beef sharing plate for two seems to be hitting the spot!
A generous 600g plus piece of aged meat served with our fresh parmesan & truffle fries, garlic butter field mushrooms, herb brioche baked tomatoes & rich red wine sauce.
⭐Hovingham Inn Departure⭐
Despite our best efforts in continuing to build upon our successes, we have been left with no further option but to leave.
We have done everything possible to stay on & do not deserve such treatment.
Still open & trading. Thankyou for your support🙏🙏
Do food journo's simply copy & paste this 'best ever' restaurant list & just pass it between themselves!?
Just for the sake of variety, there are others of us out there who work their socks off, in order to provide a quality experience.
For christ sake
@BorisJohnson
stop the waffle and officially close us down. Being put into the position of having to make these decisions ourselves is completely wrong & cruxifying to us all. This is our LIVES you playing with.
FOH need recognition. Proud of Lindsey tonight. Ran the dining room completely alone, looking after & serving over 30 customers, taking out food, making coffee's, the bills etc. Not ideal but she did it & all with a smile! Brilliant at her job. Well done rest of team too.
Tired of reading how sad folks say they are regarding the closure of quality restaurants. Its no more than empty sentiments.
@EatNorse
Another independent eatery gone today. Restaurants aren't all about hype, its real people with a passion to give. All need SUPPORT not sympathy.
Many thanks for all the messages of support. You certainly find out who your friends are in this industry. Can I just say we haven't gone bust etc. We completed our lease several months ago & are now pursing an exciting opportunity. Hopefully all goes to plan! More info to come👍
Its windy, cold & raining but STILL we getting fantastic customers who are willing to comeout & lend their support.
Having endured some god awful people this past year, these are the types who reinstall faith.
We salute you👍🙏🙏
17 years ago today we opened our first ever restaurant, Artisan. Starting from nothing we ended up gaining a decent reputation! A great 10 years.
The last 7 years we have opened a further 3 places. Phew!🤪
We still here & hopefully still have something to say!
Watch this space...
Second sitting mains leaving the pass earlier.
Nearly there now! Looking forward to a 🍷before boxing day service tomorrow, where the one chef army continues on!!!🤣🤣👨🍳
Now taking on bespoked orders for our award winning, homemade sausage rolls.
Available in several flavours, delivered direct to your home.
Lindsey & I also offer our full restaurant dining in experience within your own home.
Get in touch for details🧑🍳
Up on the wall!
@Top50Gastropubs
Very proud in less than 3 years of taking on this brand new business, along with unbelievable challenges & stresses thrown at us, the 'mighty team of two' have been recognised as one of the better places in the UK!🧑🍳Thankyou👍
Onwards......
Thankyou
@GoodFoodGuideUK
for a terrific review & cooking score now going back in right direction. Hopefully next year back to our 5! Been a tough 2 years for Lindsey & I, so many challenges. Would thank our team but we don't have one!! So will thank the 2 of us instead!😂
I'm shocked at how utterly hateful & disrespectful society (social media) has become.
Never describe myself as a royalist but to see some of the bile over a man's death is pretty sickening.
#dukeofedinburgh
🚨NYE TAKE OUT SOLD OUT🚨
Massive thanks to the two individuals who have paid for some of our food to be donated to others.
We both humbled by your generosity. We shall be out delivering later.
Also appreciation to the local folks who have also ordered from us👍
Huge thanks x
If I could share any advice from my own hard learned lessons over the years. Do not chase accolades. You can't control them. If it's going to happen, it will. Instead focus on making your business the best it can be. Because without that there will be no accolades.
Today should have have been full of Sunday lunch diners.
Instead just a table for us, in the popular snug. First time we have ever sat in the snug to eat!!
Looking forward to the time when we can hopefully welcome customers back.
Keep a look out for our take out offerings.
19 years ago today, Lindsey & I took our first steps into opening Artisan. Our restaurant for the following ten years.
What a journey its been! One further restaurant & three pubs to our name.
Been some highs & desperate lows but still here, still as driven & dedicated as ever👍
Our first official review since opening the Plough, several months ago.
Thank you very much for a fantastic review. It truly captures what Lindsey & I are all about.
We are now into our 20th year & have experienced every emotion possible!
Hopefully, here's to a few more years!👨🍳
4 weeks ago today, we were moving house into the Plough.
Worked our socks off to get open in less than four weeks.
Just wanted to say thankyou to the locals of wombleton who came out in force on Saturday night.
And a full house for Sunday lunch.
Fabulous customers. Thanks👍👨🍳
18 years ago today L & I opened our first ever restaurant, Artisan.
A real whirlwind period of big ups & downs.
2 restaurants & 2 gastropubs later have experienced it all!
Now looking for that next chapter in our hospitality lives.
Still have dreams, not done yet!👨🍳👍
Many thanks
@Top50Gastropubs
for the recognition, after only being open for several months.
Would thank my kitchen team but don't have one!!
Hopefully can aim to be back in top 50 next year, having previously been there with our last place, The Hovingham Inn👨🍳👍
Just wanted to say a massive thankyou to all the lovely messages of support we have received over the couple of days.
We really have been put through the mill but this recognition makes up for alot.
We have some amazing customers, many who travel miles to us.
Always appreciated🙏
📢 REOPENING Thursday 16th July
There will be new measures, new opening hours, new menu but the same us!
Bookings open from Wednesday 1st July.
Please keep checking our website for full updates & operational changes.
We very much looking forward to welcoming folks back.
So this our roast & scotch egg in the left side photos. Michelin starred restaurant's roast & (very over cooked) scotch egg to the right.
Don't begrudge any place a star but after 17 years of dedication & commitment, hard not to feel somewhat overlooked.....
@MichelinGuideUK
15 years ago today this nervous couple opened the door to our very 1st customers at Artisan. Crikey what a journey. Some great highs & incredible lows along the way. But we've stuck with it! Thanks to all who have supported us, especially those who been with us since day one👍
What an amazing way to spend my belated birthday for the 2nd year running!
A superb experience from start to finish
@theritzlondon
Two star cooking all day long.
So inspirational, even after all these years of cooking!👨🍳👍🙌
Move over Greggs!
It's Hovingham Inn bakery!
Over sized sausages rolls & 'Cornish style' pasties going out today.
Made up a handful extra pasties for sale, if interested. I'd say give anything coming out of Cornwall a run for its money!😜
Pleased to say the Hovingham Inn will be open to you Wednesday 31st July. Now taking table bookings, if you wish to get in touch. 01653 628428. Lovely new bar to enjoy a drink or 2! Sincere thanks to all who have been involved with the refurbishment. We got there!👊🙏
Our first 'unofficial' Sunday lunch service today, which seemed to hit the spot! Great to see folks enjoying the food, drink & atmosphere. Next proper Sunday lunch, August 4th. Bookings open👍 Full menus online shortly.
Who remembers this absolute classic Gary Rhodes dish? It seemed to feature on nearly every menu going in the late 90's. May have to bring it back, as a mark of respect.
There are a growing number of fabulous women involved within our industry.
Maybe bias but a big shout out to my significant other half! One of the most friendly & efficient host's you are ever likely to meet. Always smiling, even when the chips are down.
#IWD21
Right, that is now us officially finished, keys handed back & out of Hovingham for the last time.
We will reflect back on these last few years, take the positives to move forward & forget all the rest.
Looking forward to possible future opportunities.
Thankyou for your support🙏
Really pleased to have been included
@Top50Gastropubs
2021.
Following a challenging opening, coupled with an awful past year(understatement!!) its great to recognised for our efforts. We do a decent job!!
Small but mighty team. We aiming for higher👍👊
Fabulous, we have actual customers in for lunch today!!😜
Best of luck to everyone in the industry going forward. We hearing of places in the area that have closed or contemplating closure until March.
We'll do our very best to stay open where possible.
Best wishes to all👍
Still feels weird being able to go out on a Saturday night (won't last!) but what a treat we had
@skoshyork
last night.
Food was top draw from start to finish. Everything was on point.
@MichelinGuideUK
Now officially sick & tired of being closed!! Because....
1. Can't wait to serve food on plates again.
2. Can't wait to see & hear customers enjoying themselves.This is what its all about end of the day.
3. Want to see a more level playing field within our industry.
Bloke walks in wanting to book a table tomorrow night. He tells us doesn't eat steak or beef 'as its way too expensive', hates chicken & pork. And detests any fish. So in the end, decided there was nothing on the menu he could eat! Well thank god for that🙈🙈
#Unbelievable
Does working 14 to 15 hours day constitute you being labelled a 'snowflake'? And for next to nothing in any renumeration.
According to a local dickhead, that's apparently what we are.
Getting a wee bit jaded with some of the pathetic digs.
Glad we have some great local support.
