I think men specifically are very strongly rewarded by their communities by acting in a decent manner. Wash a dish and people will write you a poem. So I struggle to find patience for those who choose to be awful and complain no one is rewarding their non-existent efforts.
Positive reinforcement is good, actually. Like, generally. I apologize that my tweet makes it seem like it's bad or not good for people, and it is. Generally. But you can't positive reinforcement somebody out of being a deadbeat, because thats often a wilful and deliberate thing.

I've seen people do despicable and callous things at funerals, for shame. Funerals are abused as a stage for petty drama about plates and greeting and policing manners for a certain kind of person. People will surprise you with how badly they behave even in front of death.
So much of this funeral chat is giving "I've never been bereaved in my adult life" and/or "my daddy/ mommy is my family's grootman so I expect special treatment even there by my choms families". Wdym your bereaved friend must at least send someone to check you got a plate?
