Today in response to Jeremy Boreing saying that anyone who thinks it was Evil to drop the bomb hates America I went back and found an older segment where a Catholic Moral philosopher, Alex Plato, breaks down Elizabeth Anscombe's thought and argument for why the A-Bomb is
People who deny the moon landing or suggest America is evil for its use of atomic weapons against Imperial Japan or who say that George Bush was behind 9/11 actually hate this country.
Intentionally targeting innocent people is ALWAYS evil.
It’s one thing to attack a military target knowing that there will be collateral damage in civilian lives.
But it’s TERRORISM to deliberately TARGET innocent civilians, and that’s what the war planners did in this case.
No, America was not evil for dropping the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And no, “just asking questions” doesn’t make you a critical thinker. Evaluating evidence, claims, and counterclaims does.
The Senate votes tonight on a proposed 20-week abortion ban. I believe this bill violates a woman's protected constitutional rights, and I will vote no.
We have been issued a Fact Check YouTube. The "reputable" source used to check us? Trevor Project. An organization that actively encourages minors and enables children to transition and explore sexual degeneracy without Parents knowledge.
''Every act of war directed to the indiscriminate destruction of whole cities or vast areas with their inhabitants is a crime against God and man, which merits firm and unequivocal condemnation.' A danger of modern warfare is that it provides the opportunity to those who possess
Descartes: All I know is that I exist.
Hume: No you don't. The self is illusory!
Kant: It's all a projection!
Nietzsche: God is dead and there is no meaning.
Aquinas: Well. That escalated quickly.
Dear Thomists, it can be tempting--especially if you enjoy the intellectual side of the faith--to make faith an equation when it is meant to be a love affair. RESIST! Yearn for him, ache for him.
The 6 Branches of Philosophy

Message from Matt: "Thank you to everyone who has supported PWA from the beginning. And thanks to those of you who have just now heard of us and either sub or support us. Glory to Jesus Christ! 1/3
We just received another email from someone who converted to Catholicism from agnosticism in large part, he said, due to

. Glory to God!
You will never be happy if your happiness depends on getting solely what you want. Change the focus. Get a new center. Will what God wills. And your joy. No man shall take from you.

A husband and wife—both evangelical Protestants—just wrote me to say they are converting to the Catholic faith "largely thanks to Pints With Aquinas". Wow! Thanks to all who support PWA! :)
"Never speak of impure things or events, not even to lament them. Remember that such matter is stickier than pitch. Change the subject or, if that is not possible, continue with it, speaking of the need and the beauty of purity a virtue of men who know the value of their souls."
AMAZING STORY: This is one of our Columbian listeners who doesn't speak english. How, then, does he listen to the show? His friend, Estefania Alvarez, calls him each week to translate the show. Then they have a great philosophical discussion.

Chesterton once wrote, "each generation is converted by the saint who contradicts it most." Cue Aquinas, whose logic and insight is the perfect antidote to today's tribalism, emotivism, and snowflake-ism ... that last one may not be a word yet.

Aquinas: The law requires it of me because it is good.
Ockham: it is good because the law requires it of me.
Aquinas' (correct) understanding shows that the law abiding man is the happy man. Ockham's (bloody Ockham) incorrect understanding leads to legalism and scrupulosity.
Nietzsche: “You have your way, I have my way. As for the right way, it does not exist.”
College guy: "Yes, Yes! I like that!
Nietzsche: "Also, I died of syphilis."
Marx: "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."
Aquinas to you: "Hold my beer." ... "On the frigging contrary"
"You should not love your neighbor for the sake of any profit or enjoyment, but for the reason that you wish your neighbor's good as he wishes his own good." - Thomas aquinas
