@FraserNelson Here in Germany we accepted over a million refugees in 2015 and 2016 and recently over a million Ukrainens, visa free. Here our diversity is expressed through tolerance to humanity as such, not just a handful of elite politicians.

@pritipatel The UK has received 24,500 asylum seekers this year, Germany took between 2015 and 2020 1,8 million. As long as you don't offer people the chance to apply for asylum in Britain they will be forced to risk their lives. Give them the chance your family received.

@David_Cameron It makes no sense to transport goods from the UK, when all goods can be bought in Europe, in Germany or Poland, it makes more sense to donate to the International Red Cross or charities in Poland who know the logistics, storage, and what is needed.

@seasylvia2005 In German the response times, here in Bavaria, where my son was a paramedic, is mostly under 20 minutes, not 20 hours. Britain is a wealthy country, a member of the G7. Lots of the wrong people must be getting the money. .

@MattHancock Here in Germany we have a slower rollout, but those vaccinated will be vaccinated according to the time line advised by BioNtech, the Vaccination Commission of the Robert Koch Institute and the CDC. We will properly protect endangered groups. We reject vaccination nationalism.

@chrischirp Good thread. Perhaps worth adding that Germany has nine land borders and infection is highest in areas bordering on Austria and the Czech Republic. You can't repeat enough that the UK is an island and not benefited from this.

@implausibleblog In Germany unemployed get 60% to 67 % of take home pay for one year, those over 50 get it up to two years, as long as person was previously employed for two years. Based on mostly good wages, this is OK.

@campbellclaret I'm a retired social worker, and know that a lot depends on the financing, jobs, training, cooperation with other services, it is obvious the Tories prefer to trouser resources for their own personal greed rather than ensure it is used to protect children.
