The picture that’s emerging suggests there are systemic issues with air traffic safety. I hope this tragedy will result in the necessary systemic changes and not simply a bandaid over whatever specific circumstances it’s eventually determined led to this precise incident.

On Monday, I submitted a letter to the editor of my local paper arguing that we should create a fund to incentivize homeowners to invest in wildfire prevention. It was published on Wednesday. Today I got an email from the mayor asking to chat. Here’s to making things happen!

Research shows politicians aren’t rewarded for prevention. This is a political problem as well as a technical one.

@sampullara @paulnovosad No! It’s not. It’s any degree. And if you look at the top schools in the chart it’s likely a lot about business schools.

@paulnovosad Except this isn't where people went to COLLEGE. It's where they went to UNIVERSITY. It includes all degrees. The reason Harvard, Stanford, UPenn, and MIT stick out is because they have the best business schools.
