ADMIN: This year is going so quickly - I'll be booking in people for 2025 before too long! 🤯 We haven't had anyone from Tameside or Wigan do a takeover yet so do get in touch if you live/work/play in those or surrounding areas. (Would love to hear more from Oldham too.)

On the train home back to ‘Manceinion’ now. It doesn’t take a native speaker to work out what that bottom line translates to if you travel on trains often enough.

This bit of the city centre always saddens me. The neglected and rather unloved Barton Arcade just off Deansgate. In desperate need of some t.l.c. and investment, it could be beautiful but as it is looks like a set from a dystopian movie. Very sad.

We are very lucky here to have so many historic and iconic buildings still around. The Express Building on Great Ancoats ST. is probably one of my favourites - I can never resist stopping to take some pictures! Weird to think that this and Central Library are the same age.

Been delving into the history of #SinclairsOysterBar last night thanks to you all. I read up on the relocation story and it being literally raised to a new street level to join the new development. (Oh, and apparently the area is called The Shambles. York, eat your heart out!)

@ChrisO_wiki Someone earlier in the thread told me there is an actual Welsh word “wedi drefnu”, but it literally means organised, not sorted. So I presume it was a purposeful choice not to use that to keep the alliteration like in the English version.

Just had a call from my mum and she used this phrase- “Ooh it’s dark over Bill’s mothers” meaning it looks like rain. Apparently this is an old Salford (possibly Eccles even Swinton) saying. Now I’m thinking what other things we say that others may not understand… #localdialect

The future that never was - Manchester's underground railway. Although work was started (and tunnels between Victoria and the Arndale Centre still exist) it was abandoned shortly after that to be replaced by the overground Metrolink tram service.

My friend and I went to the John Rylands Library at the weekend for a lil bit of a photoshoot. The building is absolutely stunning - Manchester's version of Hogwarts - and could not recommend it enough for an explore. Here are some pictures of the unedited pictures 👩‍🏫

Then cruised along the Manchester Ship Canal taking in @ManUtd @The_Lowry @IWMNorth @factoryintl Ordsall Chord Bridge. Coffee £1 or something stronger if you’re not working. One Ship Canal, one hour long, two great cities divided by a river and ducks helping with navigation.

Greetings, good people of Greater Manchester. Another Paul here (I know - you wait ages for a Paul then two come along at once!) looking after the account for this week. I live in Newton Heath and am fortunate enough to be retired, so lots planned for this week!

On the bus into Manchester. I often cycle, but this week my asthma has been playing up so I'm on the bus. I really like the improvements being made to the network - big fan of public transport and greener travel!

MANCHESTER MUSIC TOP 40 Throughout this week, I want to celebrate the music of our city/county. So I’m going to do a countdown. Each artist/band will only have one song in the countdown and must be from, lived in, be formed in or associated with here. Got it? Good. #manctop40

Feel like I need to share this wonderful mural that depicts the park and the key themes that people talk about when asked about Boggart Hole Clough. Deer, heron and fox. The lake. And of course the Boggart. The building in the centre is Booth Hall Hospital.

Something amazing happened in Boggart Hole Clough last week. Over 4 days Jodie created this fantastic mural at on the wall of Lakeside Cafe. The image was created with input from local schools and the history of our local park. @SICKfestival ♥️

Gorgeous fresh and frosty morning view out of my window. If you zoom in on the trees you can see the skyscrapers (Beetham tower, Deansgate South tower) of Manchester. Roughly 5 miles away
