Wow! 😮 This image shows the
#PeakDistrict
from 41,000 feet - kindly sent to us by pilot Duco van der Werf who was flying from JFK Airport to Amsterdam last week with a cargo of cooled Covid-19 vaccines!
Great work Duco! 👏
Today, we have joined with landowners from across the
#PeakDistrict
to make it clear that fires and BBQs are not permitted in the open countryside anywhere in the National Park.
👉
92 years ago today (24 April, 1932) the Kinder Scout Mass Trespass took place.
This marked the beginning of the right-to-roam movement. 🥾
Thanks to these pioneers we can now all enjoy the right to access our Peak District National Park. 💚
👉
Locals and volunteers have come together to collect over 30 bags of litter found around Digley Reservoir. They then moved all the bags up to the bin by the quarry car park for our rangers to collect. 👏
Your hard work and passion for this area is amazing! Thank you! 🙏
We sent over 160 letters to retailers in the
#PeakDistrict

Great news! We have secured a grant of just over £320,000 to fund restoration of the derelict goods shed at Millers Dale station on the Monsal Trail. This comes just weeks after converting the station building into a café and information hub.

(1/2) There's no magic spell that can stop a wild fire.🔥🙁
This huge fire bowl, along with the leftovers of a mighty feast, was left by some witches or wizards on our Stanage North Lees estate recently, just metres from dry vegetation that hasn't seen rain for several weeks...
Now that the snow has mostly thawed we've started to see a lot of flood water. 💦
Thankfully gullies like this one installed by
@moorsforfuture
help to keep rainfall on the hills, slowing its flow into the valleys below!
It also creates habitat pools for moorland species. 👏
