What happens at the very first moment when sperm & egg meet? We discovered a conserved trimeric ‘key’ on vertebrate sperm that binds to divergent egg proteins. Amazing work jointly lead by @deneke_v & Andreas Blaha @PauliGroup.
The life of each one of us began when a sperm and an egg came together. But what actually happens at a molecular level? Our latest work @PauliGroup @CellPress reveals a conserved fertilization complex that bridges sperm and egg in vertebrates! (1/8)

While our scientific work hugely benefits from new advances including AI, classic coffee shops in Vienna (or our @viennabiocenter cafeteria!) remain the place to get you up-to-date with the most current news - even in the 21st century 😉! Thanks for sharing this gem!
What a coincidence! I'm in Vienna reading the @nytimes at Cafe Central when I stumbled on @PauliGroup's newest CELL paper mentioned in the Science section! What an amazing breakthrough! Congrats @deneke_v & Andreas Blaha! 👏
