Congratulations to Max Kellner (@penningerlab) on the completion of his PhD! Max presented his work on molecular virus diagnostics for resource-limited settings and, separately, on modeling host-virus interactions in natural reservoir species using bat organoids.

Congratulations to Theresa Sommer on the completion of her PhD! Theresa, a researcher in the @NRivron Group, presented her work on “Developing a stem cell – based 3D model of the human blastocyst and its application in exploring mammalian embryo morphologies” at her PhD defense.

2024 was a year of changes: In April, Elly Tanaka started as scientific director, succeeding Jürgen Knoblich, whose 6 years of leadership greatly shaped IMBA's success. In November, Barbara Kraus joined as managing director. We are excited to build on this momentum in 2025!
