Riverheads fans singing “Take Me Home Country Roads” at halftime. A Rappahannock County fan shouted, “You’re already home you bunch of hicks.” Guess that fan not happy her school is down 23 points.
That Augusta County School Board meeting last night may have been the most bizarre one I've ever attended, and I went to one last year where a person swore she'd lick floors to prove COVID wasn't dangerous.
Saw people arguing that giving teams draft picks for hiring minority candidates was "demeaning."
While I don't think that idea makes sense...let's talk about what's truly demeaning. From

this morning:
Wilson Memorial High School’s track will be named in honor of its late coach, Gary Kessler. It will be named Gary Kessler Track at Steve Geiman Stadium. Augusta County School Board unanimously approved motion.

Fort Defiance senior Jacob Jones announced Friday night on Facebook that he will be running for Charleston Southern University next year. The Charleston, S.C., school is a Division 1 athletic program that's part of the Big South Conference.

Jarrett Hatcher just texted me that the last Lee High regional championship in football before tonight was in 1990, following a Lee state title in hoops in 1990. Now both happened again in 2017.

Happy 80th birthday to hall-of-fame coach Paul Hatcher. Winner of four state championships, Hatcher led his teams to 897 wins, including a state record 85 in a row from 2003-06. He was the basketball coach at Lee High (now
@StauntonHS
) for 43 years.
Lee High's Jarvis Vaughan named Region 2B boys basketball player of the year. Buffalo Gap's Leah Calhoun named Region 2B girls basketball player of the year.
It's both relevant and newsworthy because, agree with wearing a mask or not, Augusta County Public Schools said to fans, if you want to attend games you'll wear masks. And yet, adults can't follow a simple rule for two hours.
Terrell Mickens has done an amazing job with this
@LeeFightingBB
team. Players deserve credit also, obviously. What a difference from where they were early season to now, district tournament champions.
Final score: Riverheads 35, Chilhowie 7. Riverheads wins the

Buffalo Gap’s Amaya Lucas finished with 29 points and 11 rebounds in her team’s win. She tried pulling her hood over her head to escape my camera after the game. No luck.
