In the 12 months to September 2024, there were 342 assaults per 1,000 prisoners (29,881 assaults in total), up 14%. For the same period, the rate of assaults on staff was 120 assaults per 1,000 prisoners (10,496 assaults on staff in total), up 19%.

As we hurtle towards record levels of violence against staff that see @POAUnion members nurse life changing physical and mental scars ,Governors demand more regime that see unsafe numbers unlocked doing nothing constructive. This madness must end.

Thanks to @grahamemorris for submitting this parliamentary question on pay Justice for Prison staff who do a stressful job in a very hostile environment. Let's see the Minster acknowledge this with a 6.5% pay rise for each of the next two years

Nothing to see here now move along everything will work perfectly and we will have loads of space when we transfer unsuitable cons with 5 years left to serve into the open estate. How long before my members in the open estate will say told you so ?!

They attack @POAUnion members as well when they protect their health and safety. Agree we should have the right to strike in opposition then decide not to restore it once in power 🤷♀️
The reports that the Labour government will be seeking to attack those on long-term sickness benefits are very worrying Trade unions will join @Dis_PPL_Protest disability campaigners and charities to fight for genuine social security for all

When staff retreat to a safe place they do so because the regime they are being forced to work is unsafe . Why would the Governor then expect them to carry on that regime? Then threaten them with court action? Why don’t these people listen ?

Totally agree with everything @VictimsComm says hear. What people forget is that most convicts serving less than 12 months are there because they have already failed their community sentence .What’s the plans then @DavidGauke ?
