@nathanmurf Great news, but you’ll be up against it. Many of the local radio stations provide great commentary and insight to games. Competition is great.

@Mulliganj I actually knew the lad but didn’t know he was a boxer. A very unassuming man. Condolences to everyone who loved him . RIP

@MissEims To get some sleep, play ‘white noise’ (I use Spotify) on a speaker. It’s not a cure, but it will give you comfort when you sleep.

Ironically, you can’t find match reports from any Friday night LOI games in Saturday’s Irish Independent printed newspapers but you can in all other Irish tabloids. The Indo does have reports from English games and Irish rugby clubs who play on Friday nights.
RTE have been locked out of covering the League of Ireland until at least 2029 as Virgin Media today confirmed a four-year deal to broadcast the league.

Eamonn Deacy spotted in the crowd at the first game at the newly redeveloped Terryland Park in 1994 (Galway United v Sligo Rovers). Eamonn died in 2012 aged 53. In 1994, the stadium was renamed in his honour. The Galway United player is @gbrett3

Live TV games need to be played at a different time or date to all of the rest of games so that the LOI community can watch the TV game without clashing with their own club. I’d love to watch Bohs v Rovers but not while my own club is playing. Maybe a TV game on a Thur or Mon?
Update.... FAI board ratify new three-year TV deal for League of Ireland with Virgin Media. RTÉ announced plans for 2025 coverage before they had even submitted bid. Sky Sports also held talks over rights last summer.

Sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Joe Hanley. He became chairman of Galway United FC in 1985 and saved the club from extinction. Joe was a very decent man who had time for everyone and was a proud Galwegian. RIP Newspaper article from @CTribune 1985.
