Fun fact: the 'QR' in QR codes stands for Queensland Rail.
Queensland Rail invented QR codes in the 1990s to make identification of spare parts for rolling stock easier and more efficient.

Either afraid of an escalation, being thrown in jail/killed after Putin's speech, fleeing a potential coup, or simply a drill in case of a direct NATO/Russia war
neurotypical tourism:
"man, i can't wait to visit disney world and see all the places everyone else is going to"
autistic tourism:
"man, i can't wait to ride as many of the different rolling stock in this city as i can! do you know any secrets or quirks about the rail system?
Trams with no overhead wires or constant ground level power supply for aesthetic reasons are fucking stupid. Just build the overhead wires, they aren't even that ugly y'all are just overreacting
🎥🚈: Parramatta gets a glimpse of its future as the first light rail vehicle travels through CBD.
Note the wire free section in the CBD where the vehicle is powered by an onboard energy storage system that recharges from the ground at some stops.

No sane urbanist is advocating for no outdoor spaces for kids. In fact, higher density housing will leave more space for parkland and recreational spaces closer to where people live
is the 'great australian dream' really about living in cookie cutter homes in sweltering neighbourhoods without trees, and you need to drive for 10 minutes to access your basic needs?
sounds like a miserable way to live ngl
Why do some of you guys hate the Sydney Metro so much?
It's probably the most modern, efficient and reliable system in the country and has slashed travel times massively compared to the legacy train system, and even more so than driving.
Melbourne Airport has received Federal Government approval for our third runway, enhancing aviation capacity for Victoria and creating thousands of jobs.

Old fashion dispatching at Sydney Trains with a guard, a dispatcher, a white flag of surrender, and a whistle. Every departure. Every direction. And the guard hangs out open door while train arrives and departs. Not sure how Alstom or ONXpress would feel about that

Why do American urbanists talk almost solely about inner-city metros and not high-frequency suburban rail systems that serve both inner city and suburban residents, and would do far more to ease car dependence in sprawled-out cities?
Is it bad that I think Melbourne (and all major Australian cities as well) are significantly better urbanism, transport and infrastructure wise than even just 10 years ago?
I'm sorry Melby, but as long as you don't have electric intercity rail, decent track quality, 15 minute frequencies on most lines, a fully accessible tram fleet, and flippy seats you can never hope to compete with Sydney
Australia literally went through worse lockdowns than America yet almost all our major cities have now surpassed pre-Covid levels of patronage. What the hell has happened to America?
Forgotten Australian history:
Due to environmental concerns, Western Australia prohibited the sale and production of honey in 1973, only lifting the ban in 2006.
@fgx195
There are so many cities around the world that have separate, incompatible rail systems with different purposes. London, for example has the Underground, Overground, Crossrail, DLR and National Rail all running within the city.
This is me after 3 doses Pfizer on 20/8/21, 10/8/21 and 12/1/22, I was a very healthy 18 year old human. I am now a 6 foot tall bipedal otter and have an unnatural compulsion to ride trains and kiss men. No thanks to the Covid 'vaccines'!

Dear Brisbane:
If you're not gonna commit to building new infrastructure for your Olympics might as well just pull the pin on it and give it to a more deserving city
Is it a bad thing that I'm pro-driverless trains for new systems? (like Sydney Metro, SRL, etc.)
Full automation has been possible since the 60s, its safety has been proven, and is used successfully in many metro systems across the world.
Went on the 'trackless tram'
Positives: Rides smoother than a regular bus, more capacity
Negatives: Worse ride than a real tram, shit aircon, uncomfortable plastic seats, no Transperth fare integration and it's already wearing divots into the road.
@MarkMcGowanMP
The year is 2041. Mark McGowan is in his 6th term as WA premier and despite only 70 cases of COVID recorded worldwide and Australians vaccinated annually, he still requires Victorians to quarantine even after 19 years of no new cases
@drvictoriafox
There's a category of restrictions I like to call 'we're doing something' measures. They're usually annoying NPIs with little impact on spread but a pain in the ass for people and businesses. They're usually brought in to avoid public backlash over the lack of response
I hate Melbourne's unjustified paranoia around terrorism.
-Clear plastic bins at all station platforms
-No bins on platforms at Southern Cross
-No photography in the City Loop
Deeply unserious city.
Hot take: population density in between two major 5 mil+ cities shouldn't matter all that much when it comes to HSR, and especially so when it's one of the biggest air corridors in the world.
@DrEricDing
It's sad how for a lot of men to take this virus seriously we'd have to emphasise its potential effects on their dick rather than saving lives.
@no2hater
I had a backyard too growing up. But it was nowhere near as fun as walking down to the park and playing football or chase with my other friends when I was a kid
How are Brisbane and Adelaide with their crap rail systems above us???
And how is Canberra the least car dependent when the whole city was literally planned around the car?
@joshclark606
@AP
Blood tests have shown no evidence of a virus causing it. Symptoms line up with some sort of chemical poisoning, but they haven't ruled out bacteria either. I'll be watching this closely
Genuine question, why is competing with Qantas/Jetstar and Virgin essentially impossible in Australia?
Surely to god as long as we have distant regional towns and no HSR linking our cities the airline market should be ripe for a competitive market, but it isn't?
#BREAKING
🚨 Rex Airlines has gone into voluntary administration
All flights between major airports have been cancelled with the domestic fleet of Boeing 737s grounded, while regional Saab 340 flights are continuing
Hot Melbourne take:
State Library should have been considered part of Melbourne Central and Town Hall should have followed the Perth convention and be named something like 'Flinders Underground' and share platform numbering with Flinders Street
This is Oskar and he is very brave to put this bideo out there to show you how he lives everyday now.
Full body fursuiting, boykissing and animal behaviour everyday now since he got vaccinated.
The Government wants to ignore people like this instead of providing support
For everyone ripping on me and my friend's reactions this is the first time we've both been involved in a somewhat significant accident on public transport. I've never had to deal with hitting a car in a bus or train in Perth before
@sailorrooscout
People keep downplaying antivirals. Their mechanism is different to vaccines, so even if vaccines fail, antivirals are VERY likely to work on Omi
It's like the WA government deciding the Dockers and Eagles would be better off playing at that shithole in Subiaco instead of building Optus.
Stadiums are good for cities, this seems like a massive missed opportunity.
BREAKING
The Brisbane Lions' hopes for a brand new home ground have been dashed by a shock rejection of a review into the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
