It literally was never intended to be a meme. It was a developer injoke that popped up during the development of Portal 2 and was retroactively applied to Portal 1 later down the line. It’s why there’s so much Hoopy in Portal 2 - he was an injoke, not intended to be a meme.

As it turns out, there was fanart, even a whole design concepted for White Eyes. She was some sort of half skeleton, half spider with a comparison to the Spider Mastermind from DOOM. These fanart pieces are all lost media.

The actual Prospekt Era/2005 design for the Portals have now been rebuilt using ACTUAL 2005 assets. We still lack a ‘closed’ texture beyond recreations, but for all intents and purposes - we have the 2005 Portals now.

‘Herobrine’ was around longer than the Copeland stream, obviously. There has to be an initial first posting for the image, but we literally do not know where it’s from, it may not have even been on 4chan originally. All these old posts link to the Minecraft Wiki’s reupload of it.

For the record - I think part of why a Source 2 SDK hasn’t happened is because they’ve yet to do a new flatscreen Half Life on the engine, which I reckon serves as a better engine base than CS2 or HLA have been. I don’t think s&box is exactly a good supplement either.
