I was interviewed by @nytimes about my work. Humbled by receiving such attention, especially as early-career researcher. Big thanks to my @EPFL_en mentor @OlafBlankeLab. Academia can be a nice place and the work can pay off!😊 On disliking our own and hallucinating other voices👇
In the quest to understand how we recognize our own voices, answers may come through the bones. me for @NYTScience research by @OrepicPavo

@PhilCorlett1 Interesting! Isn't this conclusion different from the finding in healthy participants from @InesAbalo, where MMN differences occurred post-vs-pre conditioning hallucinations paradigm?

@JoeBarnby I think not. Indeed familiar-other (unfam) is a great control for Self-specificity. We didn't have it here unfortunately, but we (and others) did in some other work and showed that the self is processed as a special identity in the brain, with dedicated networks, across domains

@JoeBarnby And this replicated in other, simpler "obvious" tasks with no voice morphing. And also in the brain responses, which is most puzzling. The same network that in healthy sub activates for self, in her activated for other (misattibuted as self). But sure, it's only single case 2/2
