The reports from Gaza are horrendous, just horrendous. Civilians are traumatized, living next to corpses of relatives and neighbors. They can't go out, they can't rebuild, they can't recover. They feel being locked up in a huge grave. 🧵

Excellent analysis, but consider also this striking difference from 1973: the attack was effectively organised by militants in the largest open-air prison in the world, under strict siege and surveillance, as well as constant attacks, for the past 17 years.
