McMahon was among 5 officers who fired 55 rounds at 20-year-old Willie McCoy in Feb 2019. McCoy, 20, was killed as he roused while sleeping in his car. He had a gun in his lap but the magazine was not seated, per body cam footage obtained by Open Vallejo.

. @shanedkavanaugh & I analyzed 40 fatal police shootings since Kendra James in 2003. We found: Those killed: disproportionately Black. 1/2 had a mental illness. None of the 65 cops indicted/disciplined. 7 fatally shot 2 people while w/PPB.

The officer who killed #SeanMonterrosa is also in charge of @VallejoPD 's cell site simulator, a powerful surveillance device that allows police to track a person by accessing all mobile phones across a large area. The @CityofVallejo acquired it illegally, a judge ruled last year.

BREAKING: This U-Haul left Vallejo City Manager Greg Nyhoff's Mare Island home at 7:01 p.m. today. It was accompanied by a gray pickup truck hauling a trailer, both of which were filled with household items. Nyhoff did not immediately return a voicemail left on his cell phone.

In January, McLaughlin assaulted and detained filmmaker Adrian Burrell as Burrell recorded a traffic stop from his front porch. Burrell told Open Vallejo that he asked Police Chief Andrew Bidou whether McLaughlin is back on patrol as of today. Bidou declined to answer.

Over the past 20 years, the Vallejo Police Department has been responsible for 1 in 10 homicides in the @CityofVallejo , Open Vallejo research shows. In addition, there were 29 homicides last year, if one includes the killing of #SeanMonterrosa 's by @VallejoPD Det. Jarrett Tonn.

Former @VallejoPD Chief Robert Nichelini replaced the city’s brass badges with more malleable sterling silver after the “Badge of Honor” ritual began, or was restarted, in 2003. He continues to make public statements such as this one, despite confirmation of the practice by VPD.
