Nearly all neuromodulators & neuropeptides are integrated through GPCRs to converge onto the cAMP pathway. However, in vivo imaging of cAMP remains challenging. We develop new sensors and demonstrate compartmental cAMP dynamics in neurons during behavior:

In my first, first-author publication, @YoungPearseLab and I review what’s known about the role of inflammation in AD, contributions of the NLRP3 inflammasome to microglial inflammatory response and the known intracellular functions of SHIP1 in myeloid cells.

@Jonna_Singh_ Yes, a single lens now quite literally costs more than the mouse itself

Fantastic work from @Jonna_Singh_ & @andrewlutas! Critical push forward in our understanding of how intracellular signaling can translate fast neurotransmission into other timescales.

@trose_neuro As I said, surgery without has brain popping out, surgery with dex 2 hour prior doesn’t, so yes it does help, at least in the cases I described.

@trose_neuro Dex does help for intra-operative brain swelling in mice. Don’t think it’s needed for medial regions or large >3mm windows, but I’ve definitely had brain tissue popping out when drilling small (2-3 mm) craniotomy in far lateral regions, and dex 2 hours before fully prevents this.

@trose_neuro As a further extreme. I’ve heard from a lab who swears by daily dexamethasone for a week prior to craniotomies.
