I don't understand the the rules for the NYT 100 books of the century. Many of the translated titles were originally published in the last century, which leads me to the conclusion that whoever made the list does not think a book is published until it is published in English?.

Years have gone into researching this case for a book/art work that is still undergoing, a project that has since taken over my whole life. I’m so proud that part of it is now published in @parisreview in @sheri_hellberg s wonderful translation (did we sweat over 1600 Danish!).
“In Denmark, witch trials work by first getting the woman to confess that she’s a witch; only then does the court begin their interrogation to bring all her sins to light. This was termed the embarrassing interrogation, a euphemism for torture.”

THE EMPLOYEES (2020).副題にA workplace novelとあるからお仕事小説だと思っていたら違ってた。構成も含めてゾワゾワ来るような展開だが、セクションが細かく分かれているので読みやすいことは読みやすい。著者のOlga Ravnはデンマーク出身（よって本書は英訳）でマッツ・ミケルセンの姪らしい。
