It's lovely to see Tove Ditlevsen gaining her deserved recognition in the world! But it is not true that she is unanimously celebrated in Denmark. She has always been at the center of a almost century long discussion of taste and literary quality. Thread.@PenguinUKBooks @fsgbooks.
“Sad girls in Europe” have become a marketing cliché, elevated from the domain of steadfast bloggers and thoughtful small presses to the interest of major cultural institutions, as with the @nytimes Overlooked obituary series.".@laurenoyler .

Le Guin’s work has been pivotal for me not only as a writer, but as a mother a friend, a person. The undercurrent of hope in her books is so rare. To have The Employees trans by Martin Aitken shortlisted for the first ever Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction moves me beyond words.
We're pleased to announce the shortlist for The Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction (@ursulakleguin)! See the shortlisted titles, and read Erin Bartnett's (@erinkbart) conversation with Theo Downes-Le Guin about the prize and his mother's legacy.

Wonderful to se The Employees on this list from @WIRED ! (The novel was originally published in 2018 in DK, not 2020 as it says in the article). This book has had a life of its own for 5 years now!.
These are the novels, short stories, and non-fiction books that stood out for WIRED editors in 2022.
