I mean being willing to die to go to space is noble, but this is a capitalist space program so they'll probably die not because the problem is inherently hard but because the company decided to cut back on safety *to save money.*
You're not nostalgic for the Nintendo 64 and Blockbuster or whatever, you're nostalgic for a time when you didn't have to work 40+ hours a week to *avoid death.*
I added this deck to one of my rental properties.
I was able to take the rent up from $700 to $1200 per month. The tenant moved out but I rented it quickly at the higher amount.
This is the way you make more cash as a landlord AND make your tenants lives better.
Win win.
All of the Free Software maximalists and Linux heads and anti-cloud, anti-social-media, anti-DRM people from 2009 or whatever were completely right about everything.
God I hate how smartphone-era computing turned out
there’s no concept of technology being an extension of your own agency, with the responsibility that entails. instead it’s something external, imposed on you

I was born 29 years ago.
29 years before I was born, it was.... 1962.....
The civil rights movement only happened a "my lifetime so far" amount of time before I was born, which really puts things into perspective.

It's kinda funny how the 1980s feels so infinitely more recent than the 1940s but 1981 was closer to World War II than it is to today.
Transfem and transmasc people are pretty similar after all because in both cases you get "well I'm transitioning to get a body that won't cause me dysphoria NOW, but if I had my IDEAL body I'd be some kind of fantasy creature"
@egregirls
The degree to which they actually care about the hair dye thing is amazing, you can really see how their priorities are set by spite and petty culture-war dunks instead of an actual project to make the world better for themselves
MFs will really look back on their memories of the self before trauma and go "Clearly the reason this existence felt better was because of the 90sness of it. Clearly that's why, it's not that my brain has been fucked by like 5 different kinds of traumatic experience since then,"
If "creepy" liminal spaces look like comfortable homes to you and you have a deep, almost inbuilt (you cannot remember a time without it) desire to be/become nonhuman, what does that make you?

1. Chise is one of the people who worked on the Moderna vaccine, which is a complex technical project and as such took many people to develop.

I got something in late January - early February 2020. I had a cough, fever, trouble breathing. Since then I've had *just a little extra* brain fog over the normal depression shit. I wonder....
Folks, feral art is okay. Z**philia is a terrible fucked-up abuse thing, and feral art has nothing to do with it.
If you would form a harassment mob against a trans woman over something as small as that PLEASE block me.
👋🙂
Sometimes you read posts about this and it's- Clearly somebody thinks their childhood was the garden of eden and we now live in a fallen world.
and it's like
that wasn't the 90s. That wasn't the 90sness of it.
It's just that your right to exist wasn't constantly in question.

"NOOOO STOP HAVING CLASS SOLIDARITYYYY, SEE THE TEENS WERE BABIES WHEN BIOSHOCK 1 CAME OUT DOESN'T THAT MAKE YOU FEEL WEIRD??? STOP HAVING CLASS SOLIDARITY AAAAAA"
I dunno people really are "nostalgic" for the past. So am I!
But sometimes you read posts about this and it takes a CERTAIN TONE which is more than just "sitting on the carpet and playing Banjo Kazooie while my friend watched while drinking strawberry milk felt nice, I remember"

Genuine question, not rhetorical: I don't want to contribute to gentrification but I'm not sure what the alternative is for finding safe places to live as a trans woman.
I mean, if your objection is the "leave" part, then 100%.

I have a feeling no zoomers are going to read this thread but it's fine because it's kind-of a group therapy for us dazed supposed-to-be-adult weirdos.

I've seen people say "I miss when games weren't political, like how Metal Gear wasn't political" before unironically and that's about as absurd as it's possible to get with that.

I am now quite convinced that there is now no time left for millennials to get it together and if you were ruined by the 2008 collapse you will now die in poverty, no way out.
@OrgullosoZ
It's kind-of "cringe" or whatever but also bringing a carnival atmosphere to strikes could be a very good move.
Also thinking "revealing your power level in public = cringe" is a millennial thing, Gen Z just thinks being a furry is punk or something, we're old

America is overworked and underpaid. Stop living in 1983. The welfare queen narrative is absurd in an age where people work 60 hour weeks and can't make rent.
Our dog has been barking and scratching up our back door every night. He has been doing this for days so I sat with him last night to find the issue. I snapped a flash pic of the backdoor when he barked and captured this. Be VERY careful outside because this does NOT look normal!

Also also, CPUSA is one of those organizations which is so infiltrated by feds that it's just feds spying on feds at this point, so I don't know why I'm making this point to one of the 5000 accounts run by 5 guys in some beltway office.
James Cameron's "Avatar" is so popular because it's normies' first time encountering a TF story (where the writer took it seriously) as an adult. seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeend tweet

Why didn't zoomers tell me Ninjago sets included a friend shaped like a friend? I'm old I'm not gonna know shit about Ninjago unless somebody tells me. Look at this guy. This is a critter. This is a freakin little GUY
My experience is unironically: to make friends after college, be a furry.
Of course, it's not that specific, it's more like "find a subculture that's an actual subculture and not just some branding thing" but this is the one I've actually done.
I've got more friends than ever.

I think America is still in that "Circumstances leading up to ___" part of the history book and I don't want to know what goes in the blank.
Wolf's Rain may have been made in 2003 but it really captures a certain "living in the shadow of a dying world" feeling (which you might be able to relate to at this point), and so you should probably give it a watch now.
Unions are strongest when it's an entire industry or an entire company, rather than just one trade. If it's just one trade, management can divide-and-conquer.
So, any Amazon union should include warehouse workers as well as programmers, technicians, etc joining in solidarity.

Historical reminder for those who don't get it: This is the step right before they start herding us at gunpoint onto windowless boxcars leading to camps fenced-in with barbed wire and machine-gun towers.
