This is pretty atrocious stuff by @Trustpilot . Apparently, they’ve deleted several reviews that cited concrete experiences with the company in question, while obvious special interests that *work directly with Tine* were left standing, even though they cite nothing concrete 😼

Free speech is the right to say stupid shit. Capitalism is the right to buy and sell stupid shit. Tolerance is the right to do stupid shit. Fallibilism is the only idea that can secure these rights.

Good example of how silly quantitative science becomes when the topic is well into the human realm. Anyone can debunk this in 2 minutes by skimming through Bill Clinton’s political platform.

@Polymarket adding an option to rugpull betters. Betting for Obama as president on a long shot? Well, you may lose your money even if she does become president, if polymarket thinks she's "definitely" out of the race.

@Sam_kuyp Good discussions, like true love, are hard to come by. It’s a tight balance. In love: Between familiarity and mystery In discussions: the same, I think. There must be a desire to understand, and thus a recognition that you don’t. In both cases, the result is attraction.

@young_opsimath @MoritzW42 @primalpoly @PeterSinger Put it this way: Brian May has been very impactful, but he’s not an impactful astrophysicist, and wouldn’t be even if he had written wildly popular books on astrophysics, *unless* he actually contributed to the field. At least, that’s how I understand the phrase.

@astupple Another suggestion, based on my principle that ignorance of economics is the defining feature of «the left»: If you don’t understand economics, you’re not a historian. @enur72

@realtimeai I was struck back in 2008/9 by how quickly streaming videos from your pocket computer became just another thing, and if at all commented upon, bad.

@bnielson01 That final one seems to be especially valuable, since it can clue you in to new perspectives. And they might turn out to have reach.
