This is such a good point. I have totally fallen victim to this many times over the years. As someone who started on a 2000 XL, it was seared into my brain that every chop had to end in something completely indiscernible from the original.
@NomisHipHop I agree. I also think there's an element of producing-for-other-producers that makes some of us feel guilty about "not doing enough".

@printmatic That’s a great point. I think when you are a “nobody”, you are producing as one who can get away with whatever, but also someone who is hoping to become Alchemist someday. The “super chop”, I think it’s indicative of someone trying to exist in both worlds simultaneously.
