Please consider a donation to my mom's memorial fundraiser. She devoted her life to being a teacher and therapist for kids with autism. Though her life was cut short after an 8-month fight with pancreatic cancer, her impact continues in the hearts of the kids she helped raise ❤️

First day back at SAIC and I’m so happy to be teaching again. The students are so excited about the brain and eager to learn (even at 9 pm!). Such a welcome break from the news doom scroll of everything that’s happening in this country 🙃

Got to do grand rounds at UIC. Was heartwarming to get such an enthusiastic welcome from the department, to have some of my labmates, mentors and students (and husband!) make the trek to see it, and to get an incredibly kind introduction from @pshrink. Happy to be in the UIC fam!

My mom saw her doc for years with stomach pain and acid reflux. Clear colonoscopy/EGD led to a psychosomatic diagnosis and years of psych meds. I wonder if a simple CT or labs could've caught her pancreatic tumor before it spread to liver and took her life in less than 8 months..
What would revolutionize cancer field? Does it really come down to more sensitive and early diagnostics or am I naive in this thinking
