🧵on my thoughts Tl:dr - great debate..I’m probably in the @andrew_trimble @DearbhailDibs @Saraita101 “space” 1/
Tonight on #cblive: A United Ireland - what would it mean? Claire will be joined by Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald.... ...and Joe Brolly, Ian Paisley Jr., Naomi Long, Andrew Trimble among others *9.35pm* on RTÉ One

@iainmartin1 It’s VERY hard to see any “good economic outcomes” for UK over next 10-15yrs (sadly as I live here with kids also)… 2030’s as “1970’s rerun”…2040’s seems earliest “1980’s recovery” scenario seems like a “best case”🤯 But who knows

@SimonCatRiley @Choyaa13 @irish_news I’m not sure we actually know that (either way)… A poll is a poll…not least on an abstract A proper referendum with a real question, real engagement, with an actual vote… That would tell us (either way)

@Choyaa13 Anytime this (very sensible) is suggested… It’s unionism that seems most against it But clearly it’s a failed entity (sadly)

@richardtgarland …because the only answered offered was as hard a physical border as possible (as a starting point)… Which unionism would seek to make harder over time The clear majority of NI reject that…as has WM

@SimonCatRiley @Choyaa13 @irish_news If you say so… Less than 50% actively support (in a poll) the current arrangement

@greenmiranda Her “legacy” is fascinating & perhaps like Merkel will wax/wane? To me (59yr) at the moment… 1. Gave UK a big, needed, shake 2. Used “oil money” to move MFG-finance 3. Looked great till 2007 4. Looks like a mirage now 5. By 2035 - UK (on her “foundations”) stagnant for ~30yrs

@Louise_m_perry @maiden_podcast USA evangelicals appear to be so focused on the Old Testament & most of their “life credo” seems so at odds with the (very challenging) New Testament that it is perhaps time for them to create a new “post Jesus Christ” religion They seem very religious - just not Christian

@Choyaa13 @AlexKane221b Respectfully I doubt anybody can “fix NI’s NHS”… Not really a dig at any local party or “constitutional point”… I personally think it’s beyond fixing (sadly)

@Choyaa13 @irish_news One is trending up (slowly)…one the reverse I guess you/unionism will have to decide how safe the union is in relation to “economic unionists” (but not “culturally British”) in the likely economic position of UK/NI over next 10yrs (stagnant) Interesting times…it’s not 1985

@JavierBlas Cannot comment on his/Labour’s sincerity… But severely doubt its capacity, capability & “staying power” to see any/all of this stuff thru the inevitable “generation long” fight
