The hatred of, misogyny & barely concealed racism directed at

in some quarters of the UK media (broadsheet as well as tabloid + broadcast) is staggering
#PlatinumJubilee
We have to interrogate the role of media in its demonisation of women, incl by other women
Think it’s bad what they did to Britney? They’re doing it to Meghan Markle now. And we can see the misogyny and racism in all its horrid glory. In real time. It’s nauseating.
I’m not sure how I feel (personally) about all this opening up lark just yet 😔 Maybe it’s just the post pandemic jitters, but I’m not convinced we’re in the ‘post’ part of it all yet. Just me?
On this

You’re in your 40s (could be any age), alone, female, had a great night out with your pal (s). Frantically checking if their/your taxi home was ok, got your key in the door. Security cross check. Final verbal call to check all is ok. This is totally normal, right?

I see the armchair epidemiologists have branched out into large scale logistics and cold chain storage with their customary ease and *checksnotes* armchair expertise 🤔
It’s staggering to hear Arlene Foster deny there was a hard border during the troubles. As the late Sen Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said, you’re entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts
Hate to comment as someone from Dublin, but on trips to Newry as a child we were ‘welcomed’ by British soldiers armed to the teeth inspecting documentation etc.
Was that not a hard border?

In light of the tragic murder of Aisling Murphy and the ever-increasing assaults of women in Irish society,I am calling on the Government to open a real debate in legalising the use of Mace so women in particular would be able to defend themselves against unprovoked assaults.

Social media companies are publishers, let’s stop pretending that isn’t the case. Imagine if a newspaper/tv/radio station published that racist abuse. It’s not enough to condemn the posters, surely the platforms have to be held to account too.
The FA has released a statement condemning the racist abuse England players have received on social after losing the final of Euro 2020.
The FA is “appalled” by the online racism aimed at England players.
