Maybe I can make a film breakdown explaining how dates fall on different days each year so you can understand. Tough concept to grasp I recognize.
@PlatosGooncave
Average tweet from the blue check rando on twitter.
I don't know what a professional fan is lol but his "opinion" (that the Trans Day of Visibility was intentionally scheduled on Easter) was literally wrong
On the flight home from LAX, this energetic kid across the aisle from me notices I’m watching the game on my phone. He taps my arm.
“What team are you for?”
“The Twins!”
“My dad plays for the Twins. He can throw 103 miles an hour.”
Not much mystery there 😂 that was cute
Bailey Ober was a 12th-round pick in 2017. Josh Winder was a 9th-rounder in 2018. The Twins got Jhoan Duran for 2 months of Eduardo Escobar at the '18 deadline, and Joe Ryan for 2 months of Nelson Cruz last year.
This front office is doing exactly what they were hired to do.
So far this offseason the Twins have:
- Traded Urshela for salary relief
- Re-signed Pagan
- Missed out on Correa, Rodon, Bogaerts, Abreu, etc.
- Dangled Arraez in trade
Fan morale is great. Why do you ask?
Remember when, in 2006, Justin Morneau became the first
#MNTwins
player in two decades to hit 30 HR?
This year's team currently has 6 players on pace for 30+ HR. Rosario and Cron are on pace for 40+.
#SotaPop
Grumble about
#MNTwins
trade deadline if you wish, but I hope everyone recognizes that:
A) They're in first place
B) They might set the MLB home run record by end of August
C) All 5 of their SPs are among the American League's top 20 in WAR
D) They just added 2 excellent RPs
Despite a 7-13 start. Despite injuries to Correa, Lewis, Buxton. Despite being handcuffed by ownership's resource restrictions. The Twins are three games back from the best record in baseball.
Rocco is near the top of the list for Manager of the Year. Again.
The Twins have an 11-5 record in August and moved within two games of Cleveland in the AL Central standings.
They’re three games back from the best record in the majors.
Carlos Correa was an All-Star and Gold Glover last year. Finished 5th in the AL MVP voting. He's 27 years old. Twins just signed him to the biggest contract in franchise history and suddenly affirmed themselves as contenders.
Happy weekend!
Twins are cutting Richards, less than a month after making him their lone deadline acquisition. Front office’s failure rate on MLB reliever additions is unbelievable.
After leading the majors with a .282 average in June, the
#MNTwins
are batting .344 so far in July. No other AL team is within 60 points of them.
When I say it's the best offense in baseball, I'm not exaggerating.
Jorge Polanco is 25, playing at an MVP level, and under team control at reasonable rates through 2025. Just one of many reasons why this team is built for the long haul.
#MNTwins
Twitter is exhausting lately. Most enjoyable Twins season of my lifetime and so many "fans" can only dwell in misery and rancor.
If you wanna claim Sam Dyson -- who's been phenomenal for the past 1.5 years -- is bad bc he had 1 bad outing right off the plane, keep it to yourself
Carlos Correa has to feel some sense of satisfaction that the Giants and Mets are sitting at home while he leads the Twins on a franchise-invigorating playoff run
The Byron Buxton extension is the most important move made in the history of the Twins franchise. I fully believe that. So eternally grateful they got that done.
Rocco Baldelli is about to win his third division title in five years as manager. His .527 career winning percentage is 7th-best among active managers, and best for any Twins manager since the '70s.
101-61. Second-winningest team in
#MNTwins
history. MLB record 307 home runs. +185 run differential. Bravo to all involved one hell of a season.
Now the real work begins.
Remember a year ago when Buxton looked like a hopeless whiff machine at the plate?
He's struck out 3 times in 27 June PAs, and is batting .385 this month. For the season, his K-rate is down about 10% from his previous career mark, and is below the MLB avg.

In decades of watching the
#MNTwins
, I can't remember ever seeing them play this well over an extended stretch. It's not just the winning, it's that so many games are like this one – decided early on, never in doubt. This team is transcendent.
Seeing
#MNTwins
return to the ranks of baseball's best teams has been delightful. But what's most invigorating to me is the corresponding impact on attendance/interest, & watching Target Field come back to life.
This is a baseball town, dammit. It's just been in sleep mode.
Twins deserve all the grief they’re gonna get about this series. That was the saddest effort I’ve seen in a long line of sad postseason efforts. They completely crumpled in the moment. Great season but a horrible finish. Again.
People really sleep on how incredibly great Joe Nathan was.
Jhoan Duran just posted a 1.86 ERA as a rookie in one of the most spectacular seasons we've seen from a Twins reliever. Nathan finished with a lower ERA three times (2004, 2006, 2008)!
Jake Cave now rocking a 24-to-2 K/BB and .515 OPS, playing almost everyday while the Twins have two of the better corner OF prospects in baseball sitting at their alternate site ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Twins and Rocco deserve the grief they're gonna get for pulling Varland and immediately blowing the lead. Just getting way too cute with this stuff. The kid was rolling, let him throw 6 or 7 innings.
The Twins had two shitty years and turned them into Brooks Lee & Walker Jenkins. Now about to dominate the Central for a half-decade at least. It's beautiful.
On the same day we learn the
#Vikings
have an embarrassing team vaccination rate of 65%, lowest in the NFL, their 2020 first-rd draft pick is indicted on horrifying domestic violence charges and released.
Tough day to be a fan of the Purple.
The White Sox top 3 pitching additions during the offseason were Lance Lynn, Liam Hendriks, and Carlos Rodon (re-signed). All three are All-Stars.
The Twins top 3 pitching additions during the offseason were J.A. Happ, Alex Colome, and Matt Shoemaker. All three are... yeah.
Sam Dyson over the past two seasons: 2.60 ERA, 3.16 FIP, 1.01 WHIP, 8 HR allowed in 121 IP. Very solid reliever, probably a notch above Romo. Under control for next year. I like it, pending the return.
#MNTwins
Hottest team in ball.
#MNTwins
are now 9-2 since the All-Star break, and 6 games above .500 for the first time all year. Their four-game lead in the Central also equals a season-high.
The
#MNTwins
went from 1988 through 2005 without having a single player hit 30 HR in a season. Now they’ve set an MLB record with five guys doing it in the same season.
#SotaPOP
Max Kepler, who keeps on demonstrating that he cannot hit, has batted leadoff 7x this year and is at cleanup today.
Keeping him around was one thing, but continuing to treat him like a productive hitter when he hasn't been for years is tough to excuse.
I got hit by a car today while crossing an intersection with a green light. I thankfully should be ok, but they fully ran over my foot and it’s messed up, will need surgery. Please please PLEASE be aware of and attentive to pedestrians when you’re driving folks.
Twins fans are gonna get to watch the most talented, athletic, dynamic player in baseball this year.
And Carlos Correa will be standing in front of him!
Chris Paddack would've led all Twins pitchers, sans Jose Berrios, in fWAR last season. I am begging you not to put too much stock into his misleading 5.07 ERA.
Lowest ERA among AL pitchers since the start of August (min 20 IP):
1. TYLER DUFFEY - 0.00
2. Sean Manaea - 1.14
3. TREVOR MAY - 1.44
3. Liam Hendriks - 1.44
5. Gerrit Cole - 1.55
6. Brandon Workman - 1.57
7. RANDY DOBNAK - 1.59
Gotta give major props to the
@Twins
for a fantastic ballpark experience the past two days. Lines were reasonable, staff was friendly, atmosphere was unforgettable. Target Field is simply the best.
We are 16% of the way through the season.
#MNTwins
are in first place and on a 106-win pace. They are firing in all phases, with quite possibly the best offense in the league.
This is the real deal. Let's freaking go.
I mean the natural question is why did Correa, widely considered the
#1
free agent in this class, find such an unreceptive market. But we’ll worry about that later. The Minnesota Twins signed THE top free agent. Let that marinate,
Watching Matt Birk get absolutely rolled in the election is going to be supremely enjoyable. I mean, Jensen too but I don't really care about him.
It's truly stunning to me that these are the best candidates the GOP could muster at a time where Walz is certainly vulnerable.
The Twins are on a 90-win pace. They've won 90+ games once in the past 13 years.
I feel like the success of this season is not being fully appreciated simply because Cleveland has been so ridiculously good.
