@michaeljhout @AOC @RonWyden What? He has to answer for what an airhead like AOC said because you deemed him spokesman? You’re smarter than that. Let’s lay down a marker: do you think Trump will in fact be the one to step over this bright red line and if so is that bad? It would be the end of our system.

@PeterRVincenzo @nakashimae @KenDilanianNBC Oh please, you would go to the mat defending this if Trump announced it publicly as new policy.

@jim_linz @NathanJRobinson He does not, and all the Executive has to do is wait until this ruling can be appealed. Which it will be this week. That’s all Trump has to do. And appeals courts and SCOTUS can rule in his favor if he’s right. Our system is designed in every way to move slowly.

@lxeagle17 Deficits aren’t inherently bad - often they are required to achieve the desired economic policy/investment. That being said, we have not used them well & have a structural budget deficit largely due to poor tax policy and refusal to make tough political choices on cutting things

@cenkuygur If they’re willing to defy the courts I don’t see why they’d be willing to leave office even after they lose an election. Cenk, are we at the point where we can stop play acting with them about getting any defense cuts and such and focus on the big picture?

@jasonpcarter @HorEmperor @ITGuy1959 @danpfeiffer They desperately need to feel like Trump isn’t the guy stepping over this red line to make themselves feel comfy with what they voted for.

@_ChicagoV_ @HorEmperor @ITGuy1959 @danpfeiffer I’m stupidly hopeful that someone who can read and think might read the thread and come away with a new perspective.

@HorEmperor @ITGuy1959 @danpfeiffer Hey, at least you got to continue to feel like you’re on a team and enjoy partisan politics as the courts are openly defied. Maybe one day if the gov takes your property or something and they ignore the court order saying that’s illegal you’ll realize what you sacrificed.

@HorEmperor @ITGuy1959 @danpfeiffer It quite literally wasn’t the same thing. That’s the point. He wanted to cancel student debt broadly and didn’t have the authority so he used the very limited authority he did in fact have. You can whine about it all you want, but Biden did not defy a court order.
Come on man. This article was about him canceling debt not covered by the court ruling not defying the court order.

@redsteeze It’s not like Biden acting against court orders makes it less of a crisis when Trump does it anyway, but this is an attempt to run cover for Trump by pretending Biden did anything close. It’s “what about” all the way down to the end of the Republic.

@KFILE They’re just making this up in real time.
@ITGuy1959 @danpfeiffer He didn’t do this. You’re all just collectively making this up. Once Biden’s order was struck down he issued an entirely separate one of much more limited scope and on different authority. I qualified for the first one and never got the forgiveness lmao.

@atriskute @redsteeze I see a Mr @crisis_fake shared a paywalled WSJ article. I would ask him to share a screenshot of what he thinks makes this point from the article but he blocked me before I could respond. Maybe someone else can.

@NurpTurp @atriskute @redsteeze Again, every last modern President has done illegal things. All of them. Nothing new. The new precedent is violating a court order which means we have no rights at all.
@emilyakopp @JHWeissmann Once the Executive Branch decides it can choose to ignore court rulings it doesn’t like or finds excessive we lose all protections for our rights. Court says the President can’t confiscate my property or jail me for speech? He can just say “I disagree.” It’s rather important.

@NurpTurp @atriskute @redsteeze You can’t see the distinction between “I’m going to try to make the case this is legal” and, once the constitutional authority on what is or isn’t legal decides it is illegal, ignoring them? It’s the whole foundation of our system! And every last right you have!
