Good luck to Lauren tomorrow as she takes on the enormous challenge of the

What a glorious afternoon celebrating 50 years of Newlaithes and 50 years of service from Mr P. The word legend is bandied around often but he epitomises it.
It was a pleasure to welcome back so many old faces and share stories and memories. 1/2 💜💜💜
When
@chrismouldink
came into school during World Book Day week. He drew some illustrations for us! It was lovely to be able to award these as prizes for The Platinum Jubilee reading challenge. Well done to everyone who entered! 🇬🇧📚👏🏼
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome

Brilliant day at the PTA Summer Fair. Lots of fun, a wonderful performance from the singers, a tremendous offering of refreshments, a real community feel and one very wet teacher! Thanks to all who made it happen and raised valuable funds! We even dodged most of the rain! ☀️💜😊
Breaking news:
Our Under 9 boys & Under 11 boys team have finished top of their respective cross country leagues at the end of the season. 🥇🥇🏆 Best in the city! Both girls teams also finished in the top 5. Superb! Well done to Mrs Cooke & our amazingly talented runners! 👏🏼💜👏🏼
Feeding time
@IngleboroughHal
after a fabulous afternoon. Different groups went caving, did archery, went to view the show cave and completed the village study. The children have been superstars so far!
Finally the weather has allowed for a bit of playtime! It’s almost dark but they are making the most of it! What a lovely setting. Mrs Ellis and Mrs Darlison are keeping watch while Mrs Rukas, Mrs Thornley and Mrs Fearnley whip up some hot chocolate. What a job they are doing! 💜
A few of the 80 plus Newlaithes contingent having fun at Headingley tonight for the
@leedsrhinos
match! They enjoyed the
@RugbyLeeds
pitch parade and are hoping for a home win!
A big thank you to Hartley's Fish and Chips for providing every Y6 pupil with a portion of chips to celebrate the end of the year. The kids loved their Friday treat. 1/2
Yesterday was special as we bid a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 6s. They have been a pleasure to work with over the last 7 years but particularly during the last few months where some special memories were made. Good luck in the future everyone! Don’t be strangers. 💜😊💜
We managed to get some quick pictures with the Commonwealth Games relay baton before the changeover and a really cool helicopter departure! What a brilliant experience. Pure coincidence!
#Whitby2022
Some slightly concerning sights at the staff pantomime of Cinderella! The children absolutely loved it! Watch out for some Oscar nominations in the new year. 😉🎭🎬
Thanks to the PTA for organising fabulous school discos tonight for everyone! It’s now pure unadulterated joy at the Year 6 leavers’ disco. The Maple v Redwood sing off was close. The dance off was spectacular!
Our contribution to the
@walkof_art
- how brilliant is this! A contribution from each class and amazingly effective. There was also lots of our work around Horsforth this weekend. It’s great to be able to be involved in community events again!
4 of the 6 groups are off enjoying their afternoon activities! The other two are as well but they were too quick for me. Lots more pictures to follow later!
#Buckden2024
What a pleasure it has been to spend today with 44 of our wonderful talented children at the
@YVconcerts
show in Sheffield. They were amazing, sang their hearts out and as
@MPeopleHeatherS
said tonight made us feel very proud. Special thanks to Mrs Darlison for her efforts!🎤🎶💜
There are some tired faces here! They’ve been up since around 6, on the go all day and absolute stars! 59 amazing children representing school perfectly. A quick chapter from the class novel before bed and a fabulous night’s sleep before our final activity in the morning! 😊💜😴
Year 5 are enjoying their hot chocolate around the campfire. Toasting marshmallows next and then I imagine there’ll be some singing! We will try and add more pictures from the afternoon activities later. Everyone is being brilliantly behaved and having a great time! 👏🏼💜😊🔥
What an experience! Over 40 hardy souls braved horrible conditions to complete the cross country race today. There’s a lack of pictures because, as Lauren will testify to, even standing up was a challenge! Well done to everyone for your resilience. We’re very proud of you! 🌧️☔️💦
Oh what a night! Amazing experience for the 51 children and 5 staff who attended the
@YVconcerts

We have completed our school marathon (we actually did approximately 30 miles)!Mrs Blacoe ran the last few laps of the marathon with a few Year 6 helpers. The children have loved contributing to a bigger achievement and pushing themselves to be fit and active! 🏃♀️🏃🏾🏃🏽♂️
Well done to our Year 4 football team who won the citywide
@LeedsWellSchool
football competition today! They played well all day culminating in a 1-0 win over Roundhay in the final. It is fabulous to retain the trophy we won last year! Well done to the children, Mr P & Mr Alston!
Well done to our Year 6 trophy winners this year! Some of the hardest choices ever according to the teachers because so many of them have been amazing! Good luck to all our brilliant Year 6 children as they move on to high school.

What a night! Almost 300 children attended 2 discos at school tonight. It was fabulous. Thanks to the PTA for organising, all the parent volunteers (who did an amazing job on doors & serving drinks) & a special thanks to the staff members who participated in the ‘dance off!’ 💃🏼🕺🏼
What a fabulous day! Over 400 children took to the field participating in a whole host of different events. Thanks to the multitude of parents who came to support, our staff who helped facilitate it and our children for being fabulous as ever! 💜
Mrs Darlison and Mrs Ellis did a wonderful job keeping us entertained around the campfire! We loved singing songs and toasting marshmallows! Bedtime now after another fabulous day!!! 🔥💜😊
What an amazing three days we’ve spent with a group of wonderful children. They’ve been polite, kind, helpful & just generally great humans. Staff, shopkeepers & members of public have all noticed. Well done Year 6! Thanks to everyone who made it happen!😊💜

Key Stage 2 Sports Day this afternoon. Some normality returns: Mr P’s timeless events, Mr Alston’s terrible jokes, a whole host of brilliant children & wonderful support from our families. Thanks to everyone. Well done to Sherwood 💚this afternoon and Whinfell 💙this morning! 👏🏼
Our first whole school event with everyone together since the pandemic began! What a fabulous event to celebrate the queen’s platinum jubilee. A concert with each year group performing and a picnic! 🇬🇧
Wow! Year 6’s performances of Joseph today were sensational. Barely a dry eye in the house tonight. Incredible talent & camaraderie. The support for each other & pleasure taken in each other’s success was fab! Well done to all involved. Here are a few cast photos! 👏🏼💜🎭🎵😊 1/4
There are not enough superlatives to describe this group of children. 3 amazing days in Whitby and they have been complimented at every turn. Shopkeepers, bus drivers, random members of the public etc. we must have had 15-20 lovely comments about how well mannered and polite…1/2
Another brillIant visit to help celebrate
#WorldBookDay
- this time it was Year 3s turn as they met illustrator
@chrismouldink
. They had a wonderful morning being inspired!
22 girls represented school at football tonight. The Year 5s won 6-0 with the Year 6s winning 6-2. 9 different goal scorers. Brilliant all round! 👏🏼💜🙌🏼
Who knew getting 67 people to smile at the same time was an impossible task?! This group of children have been a credit to school and their families this week! Resilient, kind, polite, adventurous, fun & a pleasure to spend time with. Absolute superstars! Well done Year 5 💜👏🏼😊
A dominant performance by this talented bunch at the
@LeedsWellSchool
sportshall athletics heats today. Tougher tests ahead! Great to see Mr P still leading the way as he enters his 51st year at Newlaithes!

2/2 they all are. We couldn’t be prouder. It’s been an absolute pleasure to spend time with every one of them. We are all just sad that it’s over. Never have 3 days passed so quickly. Year 6 you are a credit to school, yourselves and your families. Thank you! 💜💜💜
#Whitby2023

Brilliant performance from all our runners at the final Saturday morning cross country race this year. We had our first individual race winner 🥇🙌🏼 & some brilliant team performances! Well done to everyone who competed this year 💜. Now a nervous wait for the team results. 🤞🏼🏃🏿♀️🏃🏽
What a venue! What a morning! Thanks to everyone who helped with and came to support our swimming gala this morning. All the children were amazing! 🏊♀️🏊🏿🏊🏽♂️💦💜
We’ve arrived in Whitby with Year 6. Beautiful views and amazing weather! Quick chat about the youth hostel then we will be having lunch in the gardens before we explore Whitby and the abbey this afternoon!
An amazing effort at the Y6 Dodgeball tournament! We won all 7 games against other local schools & went on to win the overall tournament! Some children were even awarded wrist bands as they were recognised for their teamwork, honesty, respect and determination whilst playing! 🙌🏼
Staff are being challenged to experience Independent Learning Time for themselves this morning! Some of them even reached brilliant blue! Writing and PE training for the rest of the day!
Final group shots! We've had wonderful weather, amazing activities, inspiring instructors, super staff & a stunning setting but most of all we've had polite, resilient, aspirational, independent, safe & empathetic children. They lived our values perfectly! 💜😊💜
#Buckden2024
58 superstars having the time of their lives on residential. What a fabulous start to Year 5! First time for Newlaithes
@BuckdenHouseOEC
and we've loved it. Here are Monkey Puzzle and Eucalyptus being sensible and a little silly!
#Buckden2024
Year 5 are ready to play their evening game, Ambush-seemingly a complicated version of hide and seek! We will post some pictures of their afternoon activities later tonight or in the morning. Still full of smiles but they’re becoming tireder smiles! 😴😊💤
Whitby spam! What a great afternoon exploring the abbey and harbour area. It was a long way back up the 199 steps in the sun. The children have been amazing so far and are representing school brilliantly. Click on the thread to see more photos. 1/7
Well what a strange couple of days! ☀️☀️☀️ The heat has been intolerable at times but as ever our children have been amazing. 💜 Here are Year 5 enjoying foot spas this afternoon! Thank you to parents for being so understanding and supportive in fairly unprecedented times! 😊
Amazingly, we had 5 teams and an individual qualify to represent Leeds in the West Yorkshire

On Wednesday, 16 enthusiastic Green Ambassadors and their parents joined with employees of The Vistry Group for a litter pick. Horsforth is quite tidy but on closer inspection they found some litter and improved their local area. Thank you to Michaela and Vistry for helping us!
After a great night’s sleep (genuinely!), it’s fun on the beach for Year 6 in Whitby this morning, before we enjoy our boat trip and museum visit this afternoon!
On the eve of their last day working during the holiday, thank you to Tom and all his staff at Newlaithes Kids Club who have provided fabulous care for lots of our children during the holidays. Enjoy your break next week everybody!
Group 5 loved caving this afternoon! Lots of pictures from other groups to follow but it will be later on after lights out and when we manage to navigate our way around all the technology!

West Yorkshire cross country competition. They were all fabulous! The Year 5 boys team managed to finish 2nd in the whole of West Yorkshire and Timothy and Alex we believe have now... 1/2
Tragic news coming out of Horsforth this afternoon. Unthinkable and heartbreaking. Our thoughts as a school are with everyone concerned and affected. 😢💜
