We are all heartbroken with yesterday's tragic news about Josh's passing. It just doesn't seem real and most definitely not fair that someone so talented could be taken so young.
Our thoughts are with Paul and Lisa at this devastating time.

Rapid exit out of work to Pilning Wetland to see female Citrine Wagtail. Then a male bird is found 100 yards away. A fantastic twitch with everyone enjoying the birds.

Delighted to find my favourite butterflies, the Marsh Fritillary, had emerged at Strawberry Banks. Needed some finding & patience but oh what a butterfly!
His Imperial Majesty, the Purple Emperor emerged today at Oversley Woods. Difficult to photograph in evening light for great to see them again. Three different butterflies recorded.

Chuffing magic! Chough population appears to be doing well given numerous sightings on costal paths this week in Cornwall. Many thanks all the local birders who helped with tips how to navigate some of those tricky valleys of the west. Loved it…..
This little visitor landed on Li’s deck! We were sailing from Haapsalu 🇪🇪 to Kökar 🇦🇽.
First half an hour she just slept keeping balance perfectly. Listen how I’m whistling and she blinks deep brown eyes. 1/5

Montagu’s Harrier at Bosporthennis Common treated us to some distant views before we headed home to the shire. What a bird!! Thanks to
@CornwallBirding
for heads up.
Purple Emperor was star attraction & was very easy to find at Oversley Woods, Warwickshire. Car Park is open ✅but you can no longer park on service road ❌Entry to car park has pot holes like moon craters, take care‼️

White-tailed Eagle first seen last Friday, has just been refound by
@anthonypage8
over Manor Farm Fisheries, Harvington, Worcestershire. Understood to be still in area. (Does have tracker)
Speculative drive around Bromsgrove to try and find reported White Storks. Home owner informed me they roosted at 8.30pm last night before being flushed by delivery driver. Circled over school before being harassed by local gulls.
Is the Nikon P900 good for birding & butterflies? Thought it was easier to do a short blog on how I've found it for those who have asked. Hope it helps.

The 2 Wood Sandpipers at
@GrimleyBirding
this evening. Thankfully a Lapwing flushed them from east shore line giving some amazing flight views and then landed in bay on west side.
@WorcsBirding
Nipped down to Upton Snodsbury after patch shift. The Glaucous Gull was circling high until landing into field north of A422 giving amazing views. I particularly enjoyed being asked asked my a local ”Are looking at that big Seagull?”

Lapland Buntings on path towards summit of North Hill, Malvern. Thanks to
@PaulHands12
for hanging on & showing us area birds were being seen. Birds were very mobile during our visit. (2/2)
Finally bagged a pesky Caspian Tern today at Potter Heigham. Missed a good few opportunities when on sports taxi duty in past. Long drive but very impressed with road improvements that way.

First Little Ringed Plover back this morning. Hope they have season of little disturbances but very much doubt it. Will be monitoring contractors VERY closely.
Lovely day with Mrs D in shadows of Bredon Hill enjoying the amazing Nightingales. Nice to help out a lovely couple who hadn’t seen one in two hours of searching.
Arrow Valley Lake:- Black-throated Diver showing well given some patience. Diving for long periods. Great bird to see just five minutes from home.

, must be friendliest nature reserve in country. Fair play to

to twitch it from Holland. 🔭🛩️
Marsh Fritillary in good numbers at Strawberry Banks this morning. Lovely day with old friend who was having his first outing after overcoming serious health scare. Separate cars and social distancing but great to be out enjoying nature again with him.
Enjoyable morning birding at Holliwell Point taking in the Red-breasted Geese. Brent Geese are so cool. Met some lovely walkers and cyclists who were really interested in the birds too.
