Yet another hedgerow destroyed by

. Netted on Wednesday, removed yesterday, right at start of nesting season. Had been home to generations of House Sparrows, but no more. Makes no sense as development is almost complete 😡

Your first reply stated a request for further information which has been provided. Our details are irrelevant! It's an absolute disgrace that this has been allowed to happen and what exactly are the 'regional team' going to do?
Grimley: ROSE-COLOURED STARLING in village with Starlings around barn along public footpath between telephone box and River Severn this evening cSO836602 (Jim Wright per R.Blackmore).
Malvern Hills: 2 juvenile CHOUGH still on British Camp this afternoon on both sides of the county boundary. Please give the birds space to feed and refrain from using tape lures - the birds will show well with patience.
During lockdown, our highways maintenance teams have kept working under extremely difficult conditions, keeping roads safe for essential travel & following new construction industry safety guidelines
Just a few stats below since the March lockdown - great work
@Ringway_Worcs
!
Late news for yesterday (27/7) - Malvern Hills: 2+ CHOUGHS reported on British Camp at 3.30pm - description includes 'red bills and cries unmistakable'.
Lion Wood: RED-FLANKED BLUETAIL trapped and ringed late morning - no further details of precise location within the wood.
Lion Wood is located between Redditch and M4 j3 on west side of A435 just south of Portway.
26.06.23 - Lower Moor: CASPIAN TERN on river flash. Please park sensibly in village + walk south along Bridge Street + continue S on public footpath to view from fishermen's car park at SO.975.468.
DO NOT drive or park along Bridge Street + keep strictly to public rights of way.
A gentle reminder; tweets mentioning any of the following species will not be acknowledged by Worcester Birding during the nesting season; Little Ringed Plover, Goshawk, Hobby, Peregrine, Barn Owl, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Nightingale and Cetti's Warbler.
Upton Warren NR: 2 BEARDED TITS (male & female) still at the Flashes and showed briefly at 9am (
@andypitt21
) but no sign since. These two birds represent the first county record since one at Grimley in 2004.
Four species of seaduck still present in the county this morning; Long-tailed Duck and Red-breasted Merganser at Ripple, Greater Scaup at Clifton and Common Scoter at Tardebigge Reservoir.
04.03.21 - Grimley: CATTLE EGRET still at Church Farm Meadows and Eurasian White-fronted Goose still in area but mobile. Also 3 Sand Martins at Camp Lane Pits, Dunlin and Shelduck (R.Blackmore).
17.04.22 - Tapenhall: male Ring Ouzel in trees along canal around fishing peg 43 this morning then flew across the canal in the direction of Tapenhall Pool (Dave Walker).
Just over three weeks later and the removal of any trace of the hedgerow is now complete by

. Removal of a section further along the lane is also in progress. No doubt a response of 'our regional team will look in to this' will be forthcoming!
It's about time Worcester City Council's Cllr Amos got his act together by ensuring the council maintains cleaner streets and educated people not to drop food. Yet another man-made problem where wildlife will suffer
@myworcester
.
05.11.21: 2 BEARDED TITS (male & female) still near Porter's Mill at Tapenhall Pool late morning SO.857.605 (Dave Walker). View from public footpath between farm and pool.
I had indigestion, so I went for a walk around Arrow Valley Lake.
I didn't expect to see this Taiga Bean Goose amongst the many Greylags.

Regarding recent reports on the specific dates of December 2nd (Bittern at Upton Warren) and December 11th (two Snow Buntings on Worcestershire Beacon). Both records have proven to be erroneous (and that's putting it politely!)

Also from today, tweets mentioning any of the following nesting species will not be acknowledged by Worcester Birding; Little Ringed Plover, Goshawk, Hobby, Peregrine, Barn Owl, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Nightingale and Cetti's Warbler.
12.10.23 - Worcester: adult Whooper Swan on River Severn viewable from near Brown's Restaurant late morning.
@BRStretch
.
Same bird that was present at Grimley earlier this morning.
