I find it easy to paint a smile on most days, but I’ve missed my mum this week. I’ve missed her a lot. Then I take my dog out and see these little white feathers scattered along my walk. Depends what you believe, but I see it as a sign from above ❤️

Every year I get a card from a headteacher I used to work for. He took me on when I was an NQT in 2008 and even though I left this school over 10 years ago he sends me a Christmas card. I don’t have his mobile number or social media. Never see him. Just one card each year. 🎅🌲

If you are ever feeling low and need a boost in the school day then just nip into reception class - I walked in unexpectedly today and I got told I was beautiful, they liked my dress, they liked my “long eyelashes” and I was a queen 😂😂

However, they explained this was London, it was busy and it’s the capital of England. They told me London has tall buildings and lights. They worked as a team, they shared, they spoke.

When my mum died, I didn’t get anything of hers that was sentimental. That’s another story. However, I took a dried plant from her garden hoping to bring it back to life. I planted it in my garden. Last year one of the buds bloomed but this year the whole plant has bloomed 🌸

Been on around 25 home visits this week alone for new school starters.
Offered food and drink in every single house - simple acts of generosity and kindness ❤️ and the parents were so grateful of the visit - especially today 🙂

It’s been a tough reflective month in many ways. I miss my mum like she left just yesterday.
Growing up was just me and her.
I felt like I needed to scatter her ashes somewhere but changed my mind and decided to get some of them put into a necklace so she’s always there 🤍

Was comforting a crying little girl today who was missing her mum as her mum has had to go abroad for a short while.
I let her choose a prize to cheer her up. She said “has your mum gone away too? Do you miss her?”

This here is a Hindu temple with fireworks celebrating Diwali. After our RE lesson this was created all on their own with lots of language around Diwali and celebrations. Learning doesn’t always have to be a worksheet.

Today we used popcorn in maths to find half of a quantity. As soon as they recorded their answers in a part whole model they could eat those popcorns and start again!
