New research from @nyulangone finds that people with HIV fare just as well whether they receive a kidney from an HIV-positive donor or someone without the virus. Authors of the @NEJM study say the findings widen the potential pool of donor kidneys.

In our latest @NEJM study we have found that outcomes in patients who got an HIV kidney fare as well as someone without the virus. Let’s realize the promise of the HIV Organ Policy Equity Act.
In a study involving kidney-transplantation candidates with HIV, results of transplantation from donors with HIV were noninferior to those of transplantation from donors without HIV. Full study results:
