NYC added about 78,000 jobs in 2024, pushing employment in the city to a new high. NYC has added jobs and job-seekers faster than the nation. But some important industries, like finance and construction, have not been growing. Education and health services have carried the load.

NYC gained about 80,000 private-sector jobs in last 12 months, the department said. But that number would have been negative if not for the 81,000 jobs added in the private education and health services sector. Construction, finance and information (media and tech) all shrank.

@PANYNJ also plans to raise the fare on @PATHTrain by 25 cents to $3 in January. That would be the first increase in that fare since 2014.
