On behalf of our members, we are calling on the new government to get to work right away on building the health of the nation based on our recommendations: 👇
On behalf of our members in England, we’re calling on
@BorisJohnson
to enact ‘Plan B’ of the Government’s winter strategy without delay to help keep people well and avoid the NHS becoming overwhelmed this winter.
1/8
We are proud to launch our new
#NotTooMuchToMask
initiative today, in a show of solidarity with everyone who wants to continue protecting themselves and others after now that the remaining COVID-19 restrictions have lifted in England.
A short🧵... 1/12
Plan B would see actions like
😷mandatory face coverings in certain settings
💉vaccine certificates
📢increased public comms
🏡and more home-working being rolled out.
Why wait for a crisis to happen before this action is taken here?

“We owe it to the 150,000 people and their bereaved loved ones to address the fundamental failings that meant we entered the pandemic with 100k staff vacancies in the NHS, run-down buildings, a lack of PPE and limited diagnostic testing capacity."

this morning.
"We need to put in place the measures that are necessary to alleviate pressures on the health service."
“It's time for the Govt to enact Plan B without delay because without preemptive action, we risk stumbling into a winter crisis. The Govt should not wait for Covid infections to rocket and for NHS pressures to be sky high before the panic alarm is sounded.”

The inspirational George Webster speaking at

Much of the political debate surrounding the NHS tends to focus on how much it costs to run the health service.
But very little attention is paid to the wider economic benefits that result from investing in healthcare. Until now...

Also, hospital patients with COVID-19 increased by 10% in the last week.

This is coming as staff are close to burnout, the NHS prepares for winter, and as it recovers many of its services that were disrupted by the pandemic.
1.1m elective procedures and 25.5m GP appointments were delivered in August.
This recovery could be at risk.

All staff working across the

Leaders of the NHS Confederation and 13 other health organisations within the

"It's all connected. So if you want to know why ambulances are waiting in A&E, why your mum or your relative with learning disabilities or the elderly can't get access to care, it's because we don't have the care workers."
