American billionaire Stan Kroenke has joined Midway Rising as a majority investor in San Diego's biggest sports arena development project
This is AMAZING for the city of San Diego and SD's biggest advancement we've seen in quite some time for a NHL/NBA team 🙏

San Diego's Midway Rising development needs to happen.
The development would bring a new arena, a hotel, a park and more to the Midway area of San Diego 📈
It would also allow for possible NHL and NBA teams. We're a sports city– bring it home.

According to one of Stan Kroenke's top executives, when his group builds the new arena in the Midway, Kroenke is bringing the NHL to San Diego.

San Diego deserves a team way more than Arizona. We need to raise hype to finally bring the NHL to San Diego!

Time and time again, San Diego has proven itself to be a sports city, even despite the unfair relocation of beloved teams like the Chargers.

I am convinced they will never go to Quebec City, it doesn't make sense for them, no matter how much we all want to see it happen. Keep an eye on San Diego as a darkhorse, I believe Midway is planning to build a 16,000 seat arena there, which can be expanded. Gulls draw very well

It seems nearly impossible that the Coyotes could move to San Diego.
However, NHL hockey is a possibility in the next 10-15 years with the Midway Rising development:
With talk of expansion to 33 & 34 teams in the near-ish future, it's reasonable to believe the NHL could eventually expand to 36 over the next 20 years. Here is how that could happen:
-Tempe deal passes
- Atlanta & Houston 33 & 34
-Quebec & Salt Lake City 35 & 36
Kroenke owns many different professional sports franchises in North America. He has built a reputation for his championship success in leagues like the NHL, NBA and NFL

San Diego DESERVES NHL hockey 🌴
Gary Bettman says there's no active pursuit of expansion, but beyond Utah, the league has received at least preliminary interest from Utah, Houston, Atlanta, Cincinnati (!) and Omaha (!!).

San Diego has long been home to many successful sports teams, and for the city to only have one team out of North America’s four biggest sports leagues (

If San Diego was granted an NHL franchise, we would see some amazing rivalries with nearby teams like the LA Kings.

This page is dedicated to growing hockey in general in San Diego and uniting hockey fans around the city, so yes!
Our ultimate goal is to bring NHL-quality hockey to the city. If our efforts amount to one new hockey fan in the city, we still think the time spent was worthwhile.
The addition of an NHL team in San Diego would also highly benefit the NHL, who in recent years have started expanding to untraditional hockey markets.
These markets (see
#VegasBorn
’s
@GoldenKnights
) have still found incredible success in growing the sport of hockey.
(5/8)
Midway Rising has reached out to the NBA and NHL but there wasn’t much interest from either league in the San Diego market at the time. Relocation or a new expansion franchise remains a possibility in the future.
Adding an NHL team to our city would also put San Diego on the map (more than it already is) as a premier sports destination.
This could attract fans from all over the world and create more tourism opportunities for our city 🌇
(4/8)
Feel free to share the movement with family, friends and fellow San Diegans! We'd love to grow our community.

Winnipeg and New Jersey both seat 15,321 and 16,514 people in their respective arenas.
The proposed Midway arena in SD would seat around 16,500. Would be a decent amount.

It’s similar to the NBA G League.
