This is the most well researched Ballard
#NFLDraft
plan leak article ever
Does it mean I’ll get anything right? lol no.
But
#Colts
fans should check it out anyway
Conspiracy Report: Chris Ballard has, once again, leaked the Indianapolis Colts draft plan
when insecure dudes can’t attack the points they attack the person. mina is brilliant and we’re lucky to have her. y’all be nice and not sad and angry like jeffrey here
Chris Ballard is going to bat for Ad Mitchell and he's pissed about all of the reports of Mitchell's off the field concerns.
The
#Colts
GM is on one and I'm here for it.
Quenton Nelson is the most valuable guard in NFL history. How many guards go to their coach, tell them what kind of play to run and then have the head coach listen?
How many guards lead like this?
Pretty sure Q is the only one.

Watching Shane Steichen get excited talking about Anthony Richardson's processing speed makes me unreasonably happy.
Credit to Holder for the great question to get him going.
Anthony Richardson coaching high school QB's is the clip
#Colts
fans need to see today.
Like the pick or not, it's going to be impossible to root against this guy.
The Colts won 4 games in 2022
The Colts started a backup at QB for more than 80% of their games
A 3rd round WR broke the rookie franchise record for catches in a season
The Colts finished 2023 with a winning record
Nobody thought they'd be here six months ago
Very good year.
I see a lot of
#Colts
fans saying Brian Baker was the scapegoat for bad defensive linemen.
The problem with that is a year ago most wanted Rock Ya-Sin replaced. Then James Rowe comes in and Ya-Sin was so good teams avoided throwing at him.
Coaching matters.
#ForTheShoe
The Colts were down to practice squad DB's. Their kicker was hurt. They were dominant for 3 quarters and they lost.
Just a heartbreaking total team loss.
Will be pretty interesting to read about how it was all Carson Wentz's fault somehow, tomorrow.
In the
#Colts
first three games they averaged 18.7 points per game. They went 0-3.
In the Colts last six games they're averaging 31.5 points per game. They've gone 4-2.
Things are looking good on offense

NFL analysts when a RB gets a top of the market deal: "Dumb. Never pay RB's."
NFL analysts when last years rushing champ, Josh Jacobs can't get a long term deal: *crickets*
NFL analysts when Indy asks Jonathan Taylor to show he's healthy and effective in their new offense:
Well
#Colts
fans I've had a long time to think about the Buckner trade and I love the move but I do have one very big concern:
Will DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson kill each other during training camp? Will either man make it out alive?
While everyone was focused on Irsay saying they were drafting a QB I was focused on him telling us all Ballard and the
#Colts
decision makers view a running QB as being as valuable as having a 12th man on the field.
You can book Anthony Richardson to Indy.
Does anyone else remember that time Chris Ballard interviewed Matt Rhule for the Colts head coach job and everyone roasted him for it?
Now, Rhule is a top coaching candidate.
It's almost like Ballard knows what he's doing.
Quick reminder that a team starting Ryan Tannehill at QB was the number 1 seed in the AFC.
Of course the
#Colts
can contend with a 37 year old Matt Ryan under center.
This was easily my favorite part of Ballard's press conference yesterday. Ballard almost always stays humble but him pounding the table to tell us how good he's been in the 2nd round is fun to watch.

#NFLDraft2022
Yeah
#Colts
fans are probably going to be upset but here are some things you can't deny if you're being honest:
Last year's QB isn't getting that game to OT.
Jonathan Taylor is special.
Kwity Paye came up BIG in OT.
2022 has already started better than 2021.
#CutRigo
Dear Matt Ryan,
Thank you so much for the effort. Nobody knew this corner was coming on a well disguised blitz. The fact that you saw him coming and tired to block him is admirable.
Please never do it again.
Signed,

The
#Colts
did a nice job reviving the career of former 3rd RB Zack Moss and while the circumstances are different and expectations lower, I'm sure they hope the lights will come on for Trey Sermon in Indy too. Trey Sermon 🧵starts here.
The
#Colts
QB1 is currently Sam Ehlinger.
Baker Mayfield once said this about Ehlinger:
“He doesn’t like me, and I hope he knows I don’t like him either.”
So if a trade gets done the QB room in Indy might get interesting...
Here's a quick video on how Anthony Richardson could have avoided taking his big hit today and what might help him stay healthier moving forward.

Grigson just can't quit the
#Colts
and his partner dackich. Honestly kind of sad at this point.
Shout out to
@NiceReedSteve
for grabbing the screenshot before this one disappeared.
After sleeping on the
#Colts
draft my biggest takeaway is that by not taking a linebacker until the 7th and completely ignoring the position after Okereke's exit, they must feel really good about Shaq Leonard this season.
Hope they're right.
The number of people who think this means Chris Ballard expected that kind of return is WILD.
Ballard knew he wouldn't get it. He did not want to trade him.
The Colts hold all the cards and they want JT on the team. This isn't complicated.
As
@HolderStephen
reported, Packers were mystery bidder for Jonathan Taylor, besides the Dolphins. And can confirm through Dolphins person, as reported by Indy media, that Colts made wild requests from Miami, including Waddle & more.
It is absolutely astounding that Chris Ballard built not one, but two entire offensive lines (on the same roster) that were better than any five Ryan Grigson ever assembled.
But yeah, fire ballard...

I just interviewed Bill Polian and I asked him about the
#Colts
quarterback position, Andrew Luck's sudden retirement and if there would be a draftable quarterback available with the 13th overall pick.
Look out for his answers in a story that will be dropping tomorrow.
Today I listened to two agents describe a text message thread one of their clients had from Jack Easterby and I just want you to know that everyone inside the NFL, thinks Jack Easterby is as crazy as everyone outside of it thinks he is.
This hire makes complete sense in context
If Harbaugh would even want to come to Indy why would a single
#Colts
fan not want that to happen?
In the 4 years before he got to SanFran they went 26-38. In his 4 years there they went 44-19-1, w/ 3 trips to the NFCCG and 1 to the Super Bowl.
Someone talk me out of Harbaugh.
The Colts fired his old boss. The owner refused to give him a shot at the interim gig, a shot he earned. Instead he gave the job to a failed high school coach.
Bubba wants to leave and it shouldn't be surprising.
Multiple people have already told me this morning that Bubba Ventrone is gone and will take the job in Cleveland. That’s not a confirmation but sounding more like this will happen.
Dear
@NFL
every single football fan in the world deserved to see Josh Allen with a chance.
Sudden death has been and remains the worst rule in pro sports. Change it.
I think the Titans are trying to kill Derrick Henry.
He's on pace for 540 touches this season. That is not a typo. I did not transpose the five and the four.
When Henry goes down, so does the rest of that offense. It's built around him and it will not function without him.
Once again the Colts have gotten another quarterback injured because they failed to protect him in the pocket. Of all the disappointing things for a Colts fan, this is the most disappointing of all.

DE Kwity Paye is currently on pace to finish the 2022 season with an NFL record 34 sacks.
Can't wait to see history. I don't want to be let down again.
But seriously, how 'bout Kwity's overtime performance?!
Tight window throws everywhere. I'm completely sold on Matt Ryan. Ryan gets the Colts to the postseason and if they add a playmaker or two, this team can contend.
Get it done, Ballard.
I've moved on to watching 2021
#Falcons
games. This offensive line is terrible. No QB in the league would have enjoyed trying to throw behind this group.
Otherwise, Matt Ryan looked good in week 1.
Figured out why the Giants only had one QB yesterday.. the plan was to have two, but Tre Ford decided to head to the Edmonton Elks camp, rather than play both QB & WR at Giants rookie minicamp.
Plays like this have me believing Matt Ryan would slide into the
#Colts
offense so well. He reads 55, sees him step up and fits this pass into a tight window. His arm still has enough to make these kind of tight throws and mentally he's at the top of his game.
Just to clear it up for anyone who is somehow still confused about this, the

don't run a "cover 2 defense"

Just talked with Frank Reich about what traits the
#Colts
are looking for at the quarterback position, one of the first things he mentioned:
Mental toughness.
That interview will drop in a story tomorrow. Stay tuned.
If you want to whine more this isn’t for you. The numbers aren’t good, but I saw some encouraging things on tape. By week 8 this
#Colts
offense will be nice.
Charting the Colts Offense- Week 2. It was bad, but there is some good news. No, really.
JT follows Big Q around the edge for a first down. JT gets down in bounds and effectively ends the game.
Indy close this one out and get the 27-20 win at home.

Anthony Richardson completed 53.8% of his passes in his 1st season as a starter.
What other successful NFL quarterbacks completed less than 60% as 1st year starters?
Joe Burrow-57.8
Lamar Jackson-54.7
Patrick Mahomes-56.8
Josh Allen-56.0
Russell Wilson-54.5
Dak Prescott-58.4
I just finished watching the Texans vs Ravens and I gotta say that
#Colts
defensive line is about to make C.J. Stroud very uncomfortable.
Houston's offensive line has been destroyed by injury. Indy's going to dominate up front.
I'm at some fancy bar with my wife and her friends. One of her friends told us that a year ago she wrote some dissertation and it was chosen for some distinguished award.
Without thinking I said "Oh yeah, well I predicted 4 out of 8
#Colts
draft picks."
@CaptAndrewLuck
Can we all agree, right now, to not like any tweet by that hack that is trying the whole Andrew Luck's Mother bit? Before he gets here we need to decide.
After studying the Patriots, the
#Colts
can win on Saturday. Keys to winning:
1. Run the ball effectively
2. Don't make dumb mistakes. No turnovers. Limit penalties.
This season Indy has been good at both. This week they'll need that to continue to get a win
#ForTheShoe
Good news
#Colts
fans: The Texans just backed their way into playing a 1st place schedule next year.
So they'll get games against:
The Cowboys
The Chiefs
The Ravens
In addition to their regularly scheduled AFC East games next season. So that should be fun to watch.
